Mandatory Credit: Ken Blaze-Imagn Images Right-handed reliever Pete Fairbanks agreed to a one-year, $13 million contract with the Miami Marlins, multiple media outlets reported on Wednesday.
MLB.com reported the deal includes a $1 million signing bonus, $1 million in incentives based on appearances and an acquisition bonus of $500,000 if he is traded.
The total value represents a raise for Fairbanks, who saw his $11 million option turned down by the Tampa Bay Rays.
Fairbanks, 32, recorded career-high totals in saves (27) and appearances (61) last season with the Rays. He posted a 4-5 mark with a 2.83 ERA while striking out 59 batters in 60 1/3 innings.
Fairbanks is 20-24 with 90 saves in 275 career appearances (two starts) with the Texas Rangers (2019) and Rays (2019-25).
Wednesday's reports came two days after the Marlins announced reliever Ronny Henriquez will sit out the 2026 season because of a hybrid Tommy John surgery with an associated internal brace procedure.
