Reports: Vikings RB Adrian Peterson Arrested, Charged With Resisting Arrest [UPDATE]
Details are still sketchy but according to the Houston Chronicle, Adrian Peterson may still be in a Houston jail (he's since been released on $1,000 bond) in connection with resisting arrest charges.
According to HPD data, Peterson remains in the city jail waiting to post, or be released on $1,000 bond. The listed offense is "resisting arrest/search unclassified."
No other details were immediately available.
Presumably there should be an underlying offense that he was to be "arrested for" that Peterson was then charged with resisting. Whether that is the "search unclassified" referenced isn't immediately clear.
We will update as we hear more.
Update 2:15 p.m.: Pro Football Talk is reporting that a source claims Peterson was arrested following a late-night incident at a night club—which is all on video. According to PFT, police entered the club at the end of the night and instructed patrons to leave and Peterson appears to not have complied immediately. More:
Peterson wanted to get some water before he left, but an officer told Peterson that he needed to leave. Some words apparently were exchanged, but Peterson eventually walked to the exit with one of the club's bouncers.
It's believed that one of the officers then jumped on Peterson's back from behind and tried to take him down. (Key word: "tried.") Other officers then joined the fray and completed the arrest.
