Rex Ryan's Got His Swagger Back
Rex Ryan had his introductory press conference with the Buffalo Bills today, and if its tone was any indication of what Ryan's tenure as the Bills head coach is going to be like, we should all be very excited.
Once was a time when Rex Ryan was a consistent ray of sunshine cutting through the cloud of dull, mumbly coach-speak that plagues NFL press conferences. He became less of his jovial self during his last few seasons with the Jets, though, so it's nice to see Rex back in form. Ryan started his press conference by stepping up to the microphone and saying, "Is this thing on? Because it's getting ready to be." Boom! Buckle your seat belts, boys, because Rex is in town!
As you can see in the video above, he also guaranteed that the Bills, who haven't been to the playoffs since 1999, would make the postseason under his stewardship. He also said, "I know we'll lead the league in defense. That's just the way it goes," and, "Are we gonna play a physical brand of football? We mentioned, you know, Cookie Gilchrist. Well all I know is that it might be 'Lookie, lookie, here comes a buffalo behind ya.'" I have no idea what that means, but I am psyched!
Now all we need is for the Bills to start 0-4 next year. That's when his press conferences will get really good.
