The 2021 draft class will be a focal point of the NFL for years to come. It yielded some quarterbacks who have a chance to make a significant impact on their franchises this season and beyond.

So, we decided to rank these gentlemen every week and track their progress throughout the season to determine who’s the best QB out of this class.

Let’s see where these young gunslingers stacked up in Week 6.

6. Davis Mills

Davis Mills made a surprise visit into the rookie quarterback rankings last week when he threw three touchdown passes against the Patriots.

This week was a different story. Mills was picked off twice and lost 31-3 in Indianapolis on Sunday. Mills hasn’t been talked about much because he wasn’t a first-round pick and he’s playing for the Texans. But I have to give him credit for coming into Houston and doing an okay job in a nearly impossible situation.

5. Trey Lance

Lance had a bye this Sunday.

His progression has been slow but it’s been steady so far In his career. He still looks like a guy who has a lot of raw talent but is still figuring out how to play the NFL game. Honestly, Jimmy G is still the best option for the 49ers to win games because Lance isn’t ready to take over the reins yet.

Lance has all the potential to be a legitimate starter in this league, it will just take some time.

4. Zach Wilson

Wilson also had a bye this week, which made many Jets fans rejoice because it means they aren’t subjected to losing for another week.

Wilson has undeniable arm talent and can create something out of nothing when the play breaks down but like any other young player, he’s still making mistakes.

He’s already thrown 9 interceptions this season and has a QBR of 22.1. He ranks 32nd in both of those categories.

3. Justin Fields

You can tell Justin Fields is trying to get better every week. He’s becoming more decisive and becoming more accurate within the pocket.

In his first matchup with Aaron Rodgers, Fields was 16/27 for 174 yards with a TD and an INT.

Fields’ athleticism and maneuverability will continue to be helpful to him as his game develops and he becomes more familiar with the defensive schemes that exist in the league.

2. Mac Jones

Mac Jones has dropped from the top spot in the rookie quarterback rankings for this week at least.

Jones (15/21, 229 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT) didn’t play badly against the Cowboys. He actually put the Patriots in a position to win the game against a good team like he’s done so many other times this season.

Jones is just a play or two away from beating some of these high-level teams in the league. But to do that he’s going to have to take more chances to win games instead of just not losing them.

That’s the next step for Jones in his progression.

1. Trevor Lawrence

Trevor Lawrence takes the top spot on the rookie rankings this week because he finally was able to lift the Jaguars to their first win of the season.

It took them traveling to a different continent and playing at 9:30 AM to get it done but it got done. Lawrence was very good down the stretch of that game against Miami, with 319 yards, and gave his team a chance to win it with a field goal at the end.

I also have to give Lawrence credit for getting this team to bounce back in the wake of all this unnecessary scandal and distraction that his head coach placed on the team in the last few weeks.

Hopefully, Lawrence can build on this performance and continue to give Jacksonville a chance to win some more games this season.
