Hintz scored two of Dallas' three goals in the second period and notched his fourth multi-goal game of the season to help the Stars bounce back from Thursday's 5-1 loss in Philadelphia. Joe Pavelski scored a power-play goal while Matt Duchene also scored in the second.
Craig Smith and Wyatt Johnston scored in the third as the Stars won for the fifth time in seven games. Jason Robertson, Ryan Suter and Thomas Harley collected two assists apiece while Johnston also set up Hintz's second goal.
Wedgewood came within 6:45 of a shutout and improved to 3-0-0 against the Devils, whom he played 23 games for in three separate stints.
Jesper Bratt and Tyler Toffoli scored as the Devils fell to 1-8-1 on the second night of a back-to-back after honoring assistant coach Sergei Brylin with a spot in their ring of honor for his role in their three Stanley Cups between 1995 and 2003.
New Jersey goalie Nico Daws allowed a career-worst six goals on 36 shots.
Pavelski opened the scoring 5:42 into the game when he skated to the high slot and lifted a one-timer over Daws' right shoulder after getting a pass from Jamie Benn.
After Wedgewood stopped Toffoli and Luke Hughes on New Jersey's power play, Hintz scored his third short-handed goal of the season. He made a move around New Jersey defenseman Simon Nemec to the right circle and put the puck between his stick and skates before backhanding the puck by Daws with 12:02 left in the second.
Duchene scored into the vacated left side of the net with 3:29 remaining after getting a pass from Tyler Seguin, whose initial pass banked off New Jersey defenseman Colin Miller's skate. Hintz scored again with 18 seconds left when he got by Michael McLeod and Timo Meier in the high slot and slid the puck past Daws.
Smith's blast through Nemec in the right circle made it 5-0 with 17:50 left in the third and a little over five minutes later Johnston made a nifty move by Hughes in the slot to make it 6-0.
