Rutgers Dismisses Five Arrested Football Players
Earlier this week, five Rutgers football players were arrested for an April assault on a 19-year-old student. Andre Boggs, Ruhann Peele, Nadir Barnwell, Razohnn Gross, and Delon Stephenson were all kicked off the team this morning following their arrests. The five were charged with aggravated assault, riot, and conspiracy to commit a riot, and Boggs was also charged for two home invasions from April and May.
The string of robberies was what sparked the investigation into the assault. The school announced the dismissals about ten minutes before the Scarlet Knights’ opener against Norfolk State, which they are currently winning by a lot.
Barnwell was the player about whom coach Kyle Flood emailed a professor to allegedly pressure him to change Barnwell’s grades. An investgation into whether or not Flood broke NCAA rules is ongoing.
This marks a new low point for Rutgers, the same program that had a basketball coach bully and verbally abuse his players, a football coach that did about the same thing, and then hired a lying, abusive AD to deal with it. Oh and they also let Greg Schiano coach their football team.
