Rutgers loses LB Mohamed Toure to torn ACL

Mandatory Credit: Robert Goddin-USA TODAY Sports Rutgers linebacker Mohamed Toure will miss the upcoming season after suffering a torn ACL, coach Greg Schiano announced Tuesday.
Toure was expected to be a starting linebacker and a key piece in the Scarlet Knights' defense in 2024. He has played in 37 games for Rutgers since 2019 and had 4.5 sacks in each of his past three seasons (2020, 2021, 2023).
Toure also missed the 2022 season with an ACL tear.
He was named a semifinalist for the College Sports Communicators' Comeback Player of the Year award last fall, as he tallied 93 tackles (9.5 for loss) with 4.5 sacks and an interception. Toure was also on the 2024 Butkus Award watch list for the best linebacker in the country.
Rutgers was picked ninth of 18 teams in the Big Ten preseason media poll. The Scarlet Knights open their season at home on Aug. 29 against FCS opponent Howard.
