Ryan Shazier Walks On Stage To Announce The Steelers' First-Round Pick
Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier walked out on stage to announce the team’s first-round pick at tonight’s draft—one of only a few public appearances that he has made since suffering a serious spinal injury during a game in December, and the first one in which he’s been able to walk without assistance.
With the 28th pick, Pittsburgh selected Virginia Tech safety Terrell Edmunds.
There were hardly any updates on Shazier’s condition for weeks after he underwent surgery back in December. In January, news broke that he had feeling in his legs, and early February, he stood up while being recognized at a Penguins game. It was reported soon after that he hopes to play football again, though he will not be able to in 2018.
