San Antonio Cop Reportedly Fired For Feeding Homeless Man A Literal Shit Sandwich
via SAPD Our American law enforcement system enables its officers to abuse their power and harass the citizenry in ways both petty and outright barbaric. Here’s a particularly cruel example, from down in San Antonio: a cop was fired this week after he fed a homeless man a shit sandwich. I do not use “shit sandwich” metaphorically. According to a delicately worded report from the San Antonio Express-News, “the officer reportedly placed fecal matter between two pieces of bread and fed it to a homeless person.”
The San Antonio City Council apparently held a private session on the matter last night, and the issue was important enough to warrant a statement from Mayor Ivy Taylor. She released a statement about the poop-serving officer, saying:
Firing this officer was the right thing to do. His actions were a betrayal of every value we have in our community, and he is not representative of our great police force.
The officer, Matthew Luckhurst, was fired, but the Express-News reports that he plans to appeal in an effort to retain his post (from which he fed a man a poop sandwich, reportedly back in May). One council member characterized the cop’s actions as “reprehensible” and another called it “just horrible.” San Antonio Chief of Police William McManus did not comment for the Express-News’s story.
