San Diego Coach Lamont Smith Resigns Following Arrest On Suspicion Of Domestic Violence

San Diego initially suspended Smith on the day after his arrest.
A woman called police to the team’s hotel in San Francisco on the evening of San Diego’s 64-61 win over USF, saying that she had been intimately involved with Smith and he had assaulted her. She was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and he was ultimately arrested at the airport on his way back to San Diego.
This was Smith’s third season as San Diego’s coach.
