San Diego Legend Ted Leitner Melts Down On-Air Over Suitcase Incident
Ted Leitner's best known as the voice of the San Diego Padres, but the longtime broadcaster also serves as the play-by-play man for San Diego State athletics. With just over a minute remaining in the Aztecs' thriller against New Mexico today at the Mountain West Conference title game in Las Vegas, a security guard told Leitner to move his suitcase. The result? An on-air rant for the ages, given it happened in the middle of a one-point championship game with 75 seconds remaining.
Unbelievable! These people are unbelievable in this arena. They got security guards, think they're guarding the Pentagon. [...] Stupid! Totally stupid. [...] These morons think the terrorists are honing in here on the Mountain West tournament in Las Vegas.
That's classic Leitner, and we're happy to bring it to you. New Mexico went on to win 64-58. [SDSU]
