Say Goodnight, Detroit
This image was lost some time after publication. We tend to agree with True Hoop: Something inside the Pistons looks broken. After the Heat's 11-point win over the Pistons last night, they're one game away from their first conference NBA finals ever and changing the face of the Pistons forever. (As True Hoop points out, are they really going to max out for Ben Wallace if they go down in five games?)
We found last night's game — particularly the first and fourth quarters — almost unreasonably entertaining. Dwyane Wade, even though some might not find him fun enough, is scoring 30-plus points while taking only 11 shots (???), and even Grandpa Payton — a.k.a, Randall "Action" Jackson — resembled a spry, viable human being.
Oh, and Shaq: We were so excited by his block, drive and layup in the first half that we were jumping around the room. It was like turning to your dog and realizing that he can talk. For all the discussion of who The Future is, it's downright heartening to see Shaq all fired up and running around. If he wins another title, we suspect Kobe will cry all summer. Kazaam!
