Mandatory Credit: Jeff Romance-Imagn Images World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler confirmed he will play in the Scottish Open the week leading up to his defense at The Open Championship.
Scheffler, 29, is not playing in this week's Truist Championship ahead of the second major of the year at the PGA Championship. However, he will play the week leading up to The Open.
"I always enjoy coming to the Genesis Scottish Open and taking on the challenge of links-style golf as part of an exciting couple of weeks in the UK," Scheffler said. "The tournament always has a strong field and the Scottish fans help to make it a fun week."
Scheffler tied for eighth at last year's Scottish Open won by Chris Gotterup. Second-ranked Rory McIlroy, who finished two shots behind Gotterup along with England's Marco Penge last year, will also be in this year's field along with Scotland's Robert MacIntyre.
The July 9-12 Scottish Open is co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour and provides points toward the Race to Dubai and FedEx Cup rankings.
The July 16-19 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale will serve as the final major of 2026.
