Martin Necas and Seth Jarvis each scored a goal and defenseman Brady Skjei notched two assists to help the Hurricanes snap a four-game losing skid and defeat the Senators for the second time this season. Carolina skated to a 5-3 win in the teams' season opener on Oct. 11.
Pyotr Kochetkov made 31 saves and denied Ottawa captain Brady Tkachuk with a poke-check on a penalty shot with 4:21 remaining in the third period. The two players then exchanged words, leading to Tkachuk receiving a 10-minute game misconduct.
Josh Norris scored a goal and Joonas Korpisalo turned aside 24 shots for the Senators, who surrendered two power-play goals on two chances and went 0-for-4 with the man advantage. The loss was Ottawa's fifth in the past eight games.
Aho converted a nifty backhanded feed from Teuvo Teravainen on a power play to give Carolina a 2-1 lead at 12:18 of the second period.
Jarvis doubled the advantage just 81 seconds later by cleaning up a rush from Aho for his 10th goal of the season.
Aho capped his second two-goal performance in six games after a strong individual effort during four-on-four play. He skated into the slot and wristed a shot past Korpisalo for his 10th goal of the season with 2:41 remaining in the second period for a 4-1 lead.
In the first period, Norris, stationed in front, deflected defenseman Erik Brannstrom's shot from the point past Kochetkov to open the scoring at 7:27. The goal was Norris' seventh of the season and second in his past three games.
Necas one-timed a power-play shot following a circle-to-circle pass from Skjei to forge a 1-1 tie with 1:11 remaining in the first period. Necas' goal was his eighth of the season and second in his past five games.
