Serena Williams Calls On Tennys Sandgren To Apologize
Photos: Getty Images With Chris Fowler busy hand-waving away Tennys Sandgren’s alarming political views and hateful beliefs, and the rest of tennis media cowed into silence by Sandgren scolding them for asking about his beliefs after he encouraged them to ask him about his beliefs, Serena Williams called for Sandgren to apologize for the hateful and discriminatory things he’s said.
Sandgren once tweeted an article about Williams yelling during a match with the commentary “disgusting...” but Williams said she wasn’t asking for an apology for herself. She wrote:
I don’t need or want one. But there is a entire group of people that deserves an apology. I cant look at my daughter and tell her I sat back and was quiet. No! she will know how to stand up for herself and others- through my example.
Sandgren might have the support of MAGA dopes like John Isner (who was very not mad online all day), but when Serena Williams calls you out, you should really listen. Luckily, the relief for Sandgren is that the most anomalous week of his life is over and now he’s going to disappear again.
