The Dodgers expect Ohtani, the likely National League MVP, to be ready for spring training.
Ohtani partially dislocated his shoulder late in Game 2 of the World Series when sliding on a stolen base attempt. He left the field with a member of the Dodgers' medical staff while holding his arm.
Ohtani was cleared to play in Game 3 two days later. But the dislocation resulted in the labrum tear.
The Dodgers went on to defeat the New York Yankees in five games to cap Ohtani's first season with the team.
Ohtani became the first player in MLB history to amass 50 home runs and 50 steals in the same season; he finished with 54 and 59, respectively.
Ohtani did not pitch in 2024 following Tommy John surgery in September 2023. He was expected to be available as a pitcher in 2025.
