Mandatory Credit: Charles LeClaire-Imagn Images Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby will compete for Canada at the IIHF World Championship this month, the Penguins announced Sunday.
This will be Crosby's third turn at the Worlds, and first since 2015. Crosby, 37, also competed for Team Canada in 2006.
Overall, this will be the ninth time Crosby skates for Team Canada at the international level, and he is already a member of the prestigious "Triple Gold Club," signifying a player who has won a Stanley Cup, an Olympic gold medal and a World Championship.
Crosby has Cup titles in 2009, '16 and '17, gold medals from 2010 and '14 and a world title in 2015.
Crosby most recently laced up his skate in international play as captain for Team Canada when it won a gold medal at the 4 Nations Face-Off in February.
The 20-year NHL veteran just wrapped up a 91-point season (33 goals) for the Penguins, who missed out on the playoffs with a 34-36-12 record.
This year's World Championship will take place May 9-25 in Herning, Denmark, and Stockholm, Sweden. Canada opens against Slovenia on May 10.
Penguins president of hockey operations Kyle Dubas will join Crosby by serving as Team Canada's general manager.
