The former league MVP has only played two games this season for the struggling Sixers (2-10).
He missed the first 10 games due to "knee management" and a three-game suspension for shoving a reporter.
Embiid, 30, averaged 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 29.5 minutes in losses to Cleveland and Orlando.
The seven-time All-Star has career averages of 27.8 points and 11.1 rebounds in 435 starts over nine seasons.
