Somebody Tried To Sneak Past Security At Ryan Dunn's Memorial Service This Afternoon

No, the Westboro Baptist Church did not live up to its promise to " picket any public memorial/funeral held for [Ryan] Dunn, warning all not to make a mock of sin, & to fear and obey God" this afternoon. So, it can be argued that God does not, in fact, hate Jackass co-stars who drive really, really fast with a BAC of more than twice the legal limit and end up speeding their Porsche, self and friend into a fiery finality.

Droves of friends, relatives and onlookers turned out at the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home in West Chester, Pa. to memorialize the fallen 34-year-old. Best pal Bam Margera showed up in a Porsche of his own and just looked hollowed out. After I left, it's said that Johnny Knoxville and some of the "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" cast showed as well (the latter makes sense because they're currently filming in Philly, about 45 minutes away). Mourners dealt with knowing the other side of the street was lined with cameras and notebooks (mine included) on a day when all the dirt about Dunn's culpability went public. There were no cameras-in-faces moments, though. Well, except for one.

There were a half dozen or so police officers on hand, fully prepped for some Westboro offendin' (Tasers on belts, yo) but the only uproar I noticed from 3:30 to 7 p.m. was that guy in the straw hat trying to get into the private memorial not once, but twice. The first time he was shooed up the block. The second time he was swarmed, grabbed and shoved into a cop car for presumed processing. No word on whether he's since been charged with anything, but when he was getting put into an unmarked, he slurred something about his "mom and dad" either knowing Dunn or having been in that funeral parlor before.

Either way, Straw Hat Man was Westboro Baptist, if only for a day.

Side note: Dunn's body is expected to be transported back to Ohio for a funeral, so don't write the protestors off quite yet. They do love their media attention.
