Son Of Red Sox Broadcaster Jerry Remy Arrested After Girlfriend's Murder
Jared Remy, a former Red Sox security staffer and the son of NESN commentator Jerry Remy, has been arrested in connection with the stabbing death of his girlfriend and will be arraigned for murder later today.
Police announced the arrest this morning, after Jennifer Martel was found stabbed to death yesterday in the Waltham, Mass., apartment the two share with their young daughter. At the press conference, the DA said Remy had been detained earlier this week after a domestic dispute with Martel, but had been released without charges.
In 2005, Remy was arrested and charged with assault and battery after being accused of beating up his girlfriend.
Back in 2008, Remy was fired from his job with Red Sox security after being implicated as a steroids dealer. Remy admitted to using steroids, and an MLB investigation found no evidence he had sold them to players.
