Sports World Reacts to Donald Trump’s 2024 Presidential Victory
Early Wednesday morning, many major news outlets declared Donald Trump the winner of the 2024 presidential election against Vice President Kamala Harris.
Trump’s victory marks just the second time in United States history where a president was able to serve two, non-consecutive terms. He was elected president for the second time in 1892. But while this election was historic, it’s also controversial, as the president-elect is a captivating individual and a convicted felon who has built one of the most loyal political followings of this generation.
Throughout the morning and well into the day on Wednesday, reactions to Trump returning to the White House have been captured on social media. World politicians, business leaders, and, of course, athletes have taken to social media to react to this historic election.
Let’s take a look at how the sports world has reacted to the news of Trump’s victory:
LeBron James Posts About Trump’s Victory
Just days before the election, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James publicly endorsed Harris for president.
“When I think about my kids and my family and how they will grow up, the choice is clear to me,” James wrote of his decision to vote for and endorse Harris.
On Wednesday morning, James posted a photo with his daughter, Zhuri, with a heartwarming caption of support for her.
“Heavy on my heart and mind, this (is) my princess,” James wrote. “Promise to protect you with everything I have and more!! We don’t need their help!”
Trump and James have a history of dislike towards each other. In 2017, James called Trump a bum in what would become the most liked social media post from an athlete that year.
Jake Paul Congratulates Trump Before Fight With Mike Tyson
Wild to see that famed influencer boxer Jake Paul is a part of the sports world weighing in on the 2024 election, but here we are.
Paul publicly endorsed Trump in a lengthy social media video, encouraging his audience to do their own research before voting. After Trump’s victory, he returned to social media to congratulate the president-elect while training for his upcoming bout with legendary Mike Tyson on Netflix.
“First W,” Paul captioned his workout video with an actor dressed as Trump. “Second W in 9 days.”
Paul fights Tyson on November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Dallas. Tyson also endorsed Trump.
Kurt Warner Just Wants Peace
Legendary NFL quarterback Kurt Warner wants the country to unite and stop the bickering after a controversial election.
“It’s ok to have discourse & try to show others why we believe what we believe..." Warner wrote, “Just stop with all the “I’m right, you’re wrong” junk!!! Let it start with US! (Pun intended).”
Warner also explained that everyone should now be turning to prayer so that we can be united and that these next four years can become good for all Americans.
Le’Veon Bell Celebrates Trump’s Victory
Former NFL running back Le’Veon Bell has been one of Trump’s loudest supporters online, even threatening to leave the country if Harris won the election.
A few weeks ago, Bell joined former Pittsburgh Steelers teammate Antonio Brown at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania, which was a critical swing state for both candidates.
Bell took to social media to celebrate the election results.
“Ain't no point in me moving, huh?” Bell said in celebration. “You all thought I was crazy. You all thought I was the one tripping.”
