Mandatory Credit: Geoff Burke-Imagn Images Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece on Thursday hired Goran Ivanisevic, the former coach of Novak Djokovic.
A two-time Grand Slam finalist, Tsitsipas bowed out of the French Open in the second round Wednesday in a four-set loss to Italian Matteo Gigante. Tsitsipas was the 20th seed in the men's singles draw and was ranked No. 20 in the world entering the week.
Ivanisevic was himself an accomplished player and won Wimbledon in 2001. The Serbian was Djokovic's coach for six seasons before they split in 2024.
"This exciting collaboration comes just in time for the 2025 grass court season, as the Greek star looks to elevate his performance on one of the most prestigious surfaces in the sport," Tsitsipas' agency, Iconic Talent, wrote in a statement Tsitsipas posted on Instagram.
Tsitsipas, 26, lost in the finals of the 2021 French Open and the 2023 Australian Open. He has 12 ATP singles titles to his name, including three ATP Masters 1000 titles, but only one win in the past 12 months.
Djokovic most recently worked with Andy Murray as his coach before they split less than six months into their working partnership.
