Swiss Stage continues at $5M World Championships
Gen.G advanced in the League of Legends competition at the Esports World Cup on July 19, 2025 FlyQuest, Gen.G Esports, G2 Esports and Hanwha Life won their Swiss Stage matches on Saturday at the $5 million League of Legends 2025 World Championship in Beijing.
Competing in best-of-one Round 3 Mid Matches between 1-1 teams, FlyQuest sank Secret Whales in 32 minutes on blue; Gen.G toppled T1 in 28 minutes on blue; G2 beat Bilibili Gaming in 28 minutes on red; and Hanwha Life handled 100 Thieves on blue.
Teams need three wins in the five-round Swiss Stage to reach the Knockout Stage, while teams with three losses will be eliminated. All matches are best-of-one except for elimination and advancement matches, which are best-of-three.
Eight teams will make the Knockout Stage, a single-elimination bracket starting Oct. 28 where all matches are best-of-five. The winner of the Nov. 9 grand final will earn $1 million, with $800,000 going to the runner-up.
KT Rolster and Anyone's Legend already qualified for the Knockout Stage.
The action continues on Sunday with two best-of-three Round 3 Low Matches between 0-2 teams. Losers will be eliminated. The schedule is:
