Jed York sets himself up to dodge blame if 49ers draft goes sideways
I thought I was done talking about the Niners’ No 3. overall pick, and I bet you did too, but this is hilarious. Apparently, we’re not the only ones that have no idea what’s going to happen with that pivotal pick....
Why players and coaches love Cam Newton, but Patriots fans don’t
There is a deep Cam Newton divide in New England....
Deadspin’s 2021 NFL Draft gambling guide
Remember this time a year ago when all we had to wager on was the NFL Draft?...
The NFL Draft position breakdown you need most (trust us): Kickers
Sure, they might not play the flashiest position and they’re not on the field all that much. And yes, they don’t block or tackle. Well… sometimes they do. Still, the kicker is a wildly important position. So don’t be surprised when a few prospects hear their names called on draft night....
Kyle Shanahan gets real dark real fast on Jimmy Garoppolo question
Because apparently I can’t avoid discussing the 49ers or the third overall pick or any of its ramifications, I’m here today to bring you the latest bit of commentary surrounding the selection. At a Niners press conference today, head coach Kyle Shanahan and General Manager John Lynch said a lot of w...
SEE IT! Gronk sets Guinness record for ‘highest’ catch (No, not that kind of high — although…)
This is arguably the least surprising world record accomplishment ever, when you think about it. ...
Ravens-Chiefs Orlando Brown trade could work brilliantly for both teams
Two of the best teams in the AFC just made a trade with one another that was absolutely brilliant for both teams. The Chiefs, who watched the best quarterback in the NFL run for his life in the Super Bowl, acquired Pro-Bowl offensive tackle Orlando Brown from the Baltimore Ravens. The two teams also...
College football makes change to OT, and it doesn't suck
The NCAA apparently doesn’t want college football games to potentially go to absurd quadruple overtimes anymore, so they made a slight change to the manner in which overtime will be played, starting this year....
Deadspin fixes NBA’s Out-of-Bounds Rule: Reward the defense
NBA basketball. It’s fantastic!...
Alex Smith completed the comeback
If any one person deserves the trite title of “comeback kid,” it’s Alex Smith. The veteran quarterback almost died after suffering a gruesome leg injury in 2018, and somehow returned to (and won games in) the league....
Why isn’t Marquette King still punting in the NFL? I asked him
Generally speaking, when an All-Pro player is healthy, they’re employed in today’s NFL. For whatever reason, that isn’t the case for Marquette King, who is healthy, available, and ready to contribute for an NFL franchise. The former second team All-Pro punter, oozing with personality and ability, la...
Julian Edelman for the Hall of Fame? Please stop
Somewhere, sometime recently in sports, we went off track, down a bad road....
Bengals beguile broken Burrow by adding Thaddeus Moss
By now, we all know that the LSU football team in 2019 was absurdly good, right? It was arguably the best college offense ever assembled. Joe Burrow was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 draft, wide receiver Justin Jefferson was a first-round pick by Minnesota and dominated on his way to breaking t...

Britt Reid finally charged with DWI as tale of two justice departments on display in Kansas City and Minneapolis [Updated]
The difference in the two justice systems in America couldn’t be more stark....
Terrace Marshall Jr.’s family connection with Joe Delaney, the Chiefs running back who died a hero
LSU has been churning out wide receiver talent over the last couple seasons, none more notably than last year’s should-have-been Offensive Rookie of the Year and Vikings phenom Justin Jefferson. This year, the NFL, its scouting personnel, and everyone who gets paid to share their opinions are seemin...
SEE IT! HS punter picks up botched snap, ruins defenders, cruises for 55-yard TD
Yes, special teams players are people too. Except this one looks like he should be playing in the backfield. So it’s no surprise that Nicho Domine, the high school punter featured in this video, lists himself as a defensive back and wide receiver on his Twitter page. The kid also says he’ll try to w...
Kyle Pitts might be this draft’s best wide receiver, and he’s a tight end
Travis Kelce, George Kittle, and Darren Waller have ushered in a new age of receiving-threat TEs, following in the footsteps of Rob Gronkowski (who’s still around) and Jimmy Graham (who mostly isn’t). Next in line could very well be a prospect out of Florida that will go very high in this year’s NFL...
Chase Claypool in bar brawl as sideshow antics of Steelers’ wide receivers rolls on
I bet the Pittsburgh Steelers would really enjoy a boring, uneventful offseason from their wide receiver room. Unfortunately, that’s not quite in the cards. TMZ released a video of soon-to-be second-year receiver Chase Claypool involved in a fight outside a bar in Costa Mesa, Calif. on March 13....
The NFL is hell-bent on returning to normal, starting with a live draft in scenic Cleveland
We’re kinda sorta trending towards normalcy, and the NFL Draft on April 29 in Cleveland will lean into that, consequences be damned. The NFL announced today in a press release that the draft will be live, in person, with actual live people, including commissioner Roger Goodell, prospects, and fans. ...
Bill Belichick is your drunk friend at the NFL fantasy draft, hoarding the tight ends
Remember that article I wrote yesterday about Jonnu Smith signing with the Patriots, and how Bill Belichick finally had an athletic tight end to build his offense around again? Well, good ol’ Bill woke up this morning and chose violence, asking himself, “What’s better than one tight end? Two tight e...
