NBA Competition Committee Will Try To Solve Dumb Late-Game Out-Of-Bounds Replay Problem
At least twice in 2017 game-winning buckets have been scored by players who appeared to have stepped out of bounds immediately prior to sinking their shots. The NBA’s replay rules have a big dumb hole that makes these kinds of plays unreviewable, and therefore uncorrectable, but that may not be the ...
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope Wildly Overestimates His Improvisational Skills
Here is Lakers guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, boldly and tragically attempting the old off-the-backboard self-assist during last night’s loss to the Clippers:...
Chicago's Young Big Men Rule So Hard Right Now
Break up the damn Bulls! Three NBA teams have won eight of their last 10 games, and two of those teams are the Golden State Warriors and the Oklahoma City Thunder, a couple of superstar-laden superteams. The Bulls are the third team, and the Bulls are led in total minutes by Justin friggin’ Holiday....
NBA Refs Continue String Of Clutch Fuck-Ups With Game-Deciding No-Call In OKC
Tied with the Thunder in the closing seconds Friday night, the Bucks ran a simple out-of-bounds play to get superhuman monster Giannis Antetokounmpo isolated on the baseline against regular human Josh Huestis. Giannis is an insanely tough cover for anyone, and he found a way past Huestis, driving ba...
Report: Avery Bradley Paid Settlement To Woman Who Accused Him Of Sexual Assault
TMZ reported today that Detroit Pistons guard Avery Bradley “entered into a confidentiality agreement” with a woman who said he sexually assaulted her while she was “passed out drunk” on May 23 in Cleveland. The agreement with the woman was reached earlier this year, according to TMZ. ...
Shabazz Napier Had One Of The Sickest Assists Of The Year
The Trail Blazers made a very impressive comeback against the 76ers tonight, starting the fourth quarter down 13 and finishing it as the victors, 114-110. In that final quarter, no one in Portland made a more amazing play than Shabazz Napier. With his team up four, Napier drove, drew two defenders, ...
Holy Shit, The Celtics Came Back From Down 26
Earlier tonight, in a quick blog about James Harden’s layup off the shot clock, I wrote the following:...
James Harden Puts It In Off The Shot Clock
OK, so it didn’t count. But the way the Rockets are beating up the Celtics tonight, two points won’t matter.* In that case, here’s a layup off the shot clock by James Harden that’s much, much cooler than any normal field goal that would actually show up on the scoreboard....
Tyson Chandler Dunks Off The Inbound Pass For Last-Second Win
Tyson Chandler helped the Suns finish off the Grizzlies tonight with a sweet last-second dunk straight from the inbound pass....
NBA Admits Kevin Durant Fouled LeBron James Three Times In Final Two Minutes
The NBA has acknowledged that the referees screwed up on the string of no-foul calls in the final minutes of yesterday’s Warriors victory over the Cavaliers. The Last Two Minute report from the game identifies three Kevin Durant fouls that were not called, as well as one by LeBron James. ...
Lonzo Ball Joins Markelle Fultz On The Rookie Point Guards With Hurt Shoulders List
Lonzo Ball played a healthy 36 minutes in the Lakers’ narrow loss to Portland Saturday night, but temporarily left the court in the second quarter after experiencing some weird and painful-sounding popping in his left shoulder:...
The Upstart Sixers Are Having A Bad Time
The Sixers were a trendy pick to make a run at the top half of the Eastern Conference playoff field this season, to such a degree that Sixers fans and Sam Hinkie loyalists were doing preseason touchdown dances about signs of arrival as abstract as the drafting of Markelle Fultz and the extension of ...
Myles Turner Is A Big Bad Man
The Pacers are a lot of fun. Six of their rotation guys average at least 11 points per game, and their offensive rating has climbed to sixth in the NBA. A big part of their success on that end is a pair of bigs, in Myles Turner and Domantas Sabonis, who can stretch the floor without taking much off ...
Mike James, Two-Way Contract Success Story, Summarily Waived By Suns
Mike James was waived by the Suns Saturday, as the team prepares to reactivate Devin Booker following his recovery from a groin injury. This is an excruciatingly tough break for a guy who just two weeks ago celebrated becoming the first player in NBA history to convert one of the association’s new t...
Delightful Goof Austin Rivers Went Off Last Night, Baby!
The Clippers won in Houston Friday night. In just about any of the last 10 NBA regular seasons, that result would not register as anything especially noteworthy. In this one, with the Rockets coming into the game holding the NBA’s best record and the Clippers sagging towards a lottery appearance and...
LeBron James Put On A Great Dad Performance
The Cleveland Cavaliers narrowly defeated the strangely and suddenly competent Chicago Bulls last night, and they were led, as usual, by LeBron James. He scored 34 points to go along with nine assists, and he also demonstrated elite dad abilities....
Michael Beasley Had A Dang Night
A game in which Kristaps Porzingis went 0-for-11 from the field and no starter scored more than 14 points sounds like it should’ve been a surefire loss for the Knicks. But even though that’s exactly what happened against the Celtics tonight, this one was a win—thanks to Michael Beasley, pretty much ...

If you’ve been wondering what ex-NBA referee Tim Donaghy is up to, now that he’s no longer in prison for betting on games he officiated or writing a column for Deadspin, here’s an update: He was arrested in Florida earlier this week for allegedly threatening a man with a hammer....
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope Is Playing For The Lakers While Serving Jail Time
Back in June, while he was still a Piston, Lakers guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was sentenced to 12 months probation by a Michigan judge when he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor of allowing a person to operate his vehicle under the influence. He reportedly violated that probation over the summer for...
