NFL quarterbacks are becoming an endangered species
It is hard enough to find a starting-caliber NFL quarterback. There certainly are not 32 in the league right now. Finding one in the draft is like discovering that your grandma’s furniture is a valuable antique. ...
The contrived vilification of Malika Andrews has reached a tipping point
There’s no such thing as a good echo chamber. Eventually, bad narratives begin bouncing around, spreading and taking root at a cellular level. ...
The real problem with the Josh Giddey statutory rape allegations
When you continue to embrace a man who reportedly impregnated a 13-year-old when he was in college, and honor that same man regularly by inviting him to marquee league events (like the 2023 All-Star Game) alongside Kareem Abdul Jabbar and LeBron James, it makes it really hard to discipline a current...
Houston’s Baby Boy CJ Stroud can take a lick and keep on tickin’
The Houston Texans suffered a setback in a 24-21 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday that throttled them back into a mosh pit of five-loss teams in the AFC. However, not all losses are created equal. Wins are utilized as a quarterback stat too frivolously, but throughout his rookie season, CJ St...
This week in the NFL November 18, 2023
The relationship between Stefon Diggs and the Buffalo Bills has reportedly been shaky for some time. Monday Night’s performance at home against the Denver Broncos did little to make Diggs want to stick around past this season. Diggs’ brother Trevon (Dallas Cowboys cornerback) couldn’t contain his fr...
Courtland Sutton wants you to tell Russell Wilson you're sorry
Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton has seen enough and is convinced that Russell Wilson is owed an apology nine games into the season. He’s so committed to this notion that he posted a “Russell Wilson apology form” on his Instagram story, which is now circulating on Twitter....
If only the Cleveland Browns had someone like Josh Dobbs as their backup QB...
Not even a full 72 hours after the Cleveland Browns’ biggest win of the 2023 season, expectations that were on the rise have crashed right onto Brownie the Elf’s face at midfield of their home stadium. ...
Deshaun Watson continues to be dogged by bad karma
DING-DONG! Deshaun Watson’s season is dead. One of the many elephants of the NFL season no longer has to be tip-toed around as the Cleveland Browns announced their problematic quarterback is done for the rest of the year. An MRI revealed Watson needs season-ending surgery, so it’s back to a life of ...
It’s true: The Cleveland Browns are a force
Playing against the Cleveland Browns without OT Morgan Moses on Sunday was not an ideal scenario for the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens would go on to lose their other bookend offensive tackle — Ronnie Stanley — in the fourth quarter and top cornerback Marlon Humphrey in the third. While this is far f...
The Josh Dobbs redemption tour is brewing something special
When Josh Dobbs was going through his draft evaluation period, the running joke was that he would be the first quarterback to add additional questions to the Wonderlic. Dobbs’ intellect has been a key aspect of his narrative since he enrolled at Tennessee as a 4.0 student with an interest in aeronau...
Colin Kaepernick should absolutely play in the XFL
That Colin Kaepernick will never take another NFL snap should surprise no one, not after a six-year absence, an eight-figure settlement over the league’s blatant collusion to keep him off the field and especially not at his advanced age of 35, when arguably all but the luckiest, elite QBs have begun...
Baker Mayfield is doing his best Tom Brady (at 45) impression
A season ago, the Philadelphia Eagles eased into the playoffs, and the No. 1 seed, behind Jalen Hurts, a great defense, and a favorable schedule. Their out-of-division matchups were the NFC North, and the AFC South; a combo almost guaranteed to net solid returns for really any organization. I say th...
This Jimmy Haslam-Milwaukee Bucks storyline could lead to some interesting developments
Before Wednesday, it wouldn’t have been crazy to think that some Bucks fans were on the precipice of panic. Their star — Giannis Antetokounmpo — had publicly stated that he won’t sign an extension until he gets a title commitment from the front office. And their new co-owner — Jimmy Haslam, who is a...
Sports media needs a lot more guys like Dan Le Batard
Last week on his podcast, sports media personality Dan Le Batard discussed why he didn’t get the chance to interview Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill. Of Hill, Le Batard said: ...
Whatever you do, Deshaun, throw the ball <i>forward</i>
It is, in fact, too early to make a definitive call on the massive contract the Cleveland Browns handed Deshaun Watson, the team’s latest and most spectacular Hail Mary attempt at finally landing on a franchise signal caller....
Deshaun Watson rewards Cleveland Browns by also being awful <i>on</i> the field
In 2022, the Cleveland Browns sent three first-round picks, a third-round pick, and two fourth-round picks to the Houston Texans to acquire quarterback Deshaun Watson, whom they promptly rewarded with a fully guaranteed, five-year, $230 million deal. Not only that, the franchise stood by him during ...
Nick Chubb's gruesome injury — and its aftermath — shows why NFL RBs deserve hazard pay
There was little offense early during the Cleveland Browns-Pittsburgh Steelers Week 2 Monday Night football matchup. The two teams played hot potato, turning the ball over back and forth, and the end of the first quarter had to be played over again after replay review. ...
The Chicago Bears will never NOT make the wrong decision (Updated)
The Chicago Bears are 0-4 to start the season. It’s certainly not the first time the “Monsters of the Midway” have started the season with multiple losses. After all, we lived through the John Fox era, but somehow, after several seasons of big expectations, and devastating results, this season’s sta...
Travis Kelce shakes off bad karma in first half of Jags game, convinces Mahomes ‘you belong with me’
It’s Week 2 of the NFL season and, as a non-Chiefs fan, I am already tired of Travis Kelce. He doesn’t come off as a bad person, necessarily, just a loud one, and one who likes to yell “We gotta fight…for the right…to paaaarrrrrty!!” every time he’s anywhere near a microphone. Here he is saying it a...
Maybe Dabo Swinney's success was tied to a string of good QBs all along...
This isn’t a referendum only on Clemson’s embarrassing 3-touchdown loss to unranked Duke. Things have been unraveling in South Carolina for nearly two years now and the signs of Clemson being brought down a few notches on college football’s hierarchy happens regardless of the result against Duke, si...
