This Adreian Payne Dunk Is Just Silly
The college dunk contest was last night, and even though Michigan State forward Adreian Payne didn't win the competition, he earned the unofficial victory thanks to this ridiculous dunk....
The Dunk Contest Format Is Completely Different This Year
If the NBA dunk contest has disappointed you in recent years, you might consider tuning into this year's edition. The NBA has instituted a new set of rules for the contest, and they have the potential to make this year's version much more watchable than the boring, craptastic contests we've seen in ...
The Dunk Contest Field Has Been Announced, And It's Not Terrible
ESPN's Marc Stein has the scoop on which six players will be competing in this year's dunk contest, and it's actually a pretty strong field. Paul George, John Wall, Damian Lillard, Harrison Barnes, Terrence Ross, and Ben McLemore will be this year's competitors. ...
This High School Freshman Dunk Contest Is Just Foolish
This is Seventh Woods, Ivan Rabb, Malik Monk, Terrance Ferguson and Josh Jackson. They're jumping very high. They're at the national team's U16 basketball practice. U16....
LeBron Considering Magic Johnson's $1 Million To Compete In The Dunk Contest
LeBron's been on a highly-publicized tear recently, where he's completed insane dunk after insane dunk in the layup line while dressed in full sweats to prove to everyone, we guess, that even though he's not going to compete in the dunk contest, he would win if he tried. Then when people took to Tw...
LeBron James Threatens To End His Pregame Dunking
Look what we did, internet. We ruined a good thing. LeBron James's casually thunderous, between-the-legs-and-off-the-glass slam during warmups for Sunday's game went viral, shining a light on a relatively recent Heat tradition: the layup line mini-dunk contest. But people have been getting on James ...
Your All-Star Saturday Night Open Thread
All-Star Saturday is fun, but it unfolds super...slowly. For the hours between the skills contest and the three-point contest, the decades between the three-point contest and the dunk contest, and the eons between individual dunks in the dunk contest, an open thread....
The Slam Dunk Contest Must Now Happen Without Jeremy Lin And A Couch
Jeremy Lin was all set to help Knicks teammate Iman Shumpert at Saturday's NBA slam dunk contest. But because Shumpert has missed the team's last two games with knee tendinitis, he had to bow out. Jeremy Evans of the Utah Jazz will take Shumpert's place. And now that he's out, Shumpert revealed to ...
There's A White Guy In The Slam Dunk Contest
Fair warning: the lineup for the dunk contest at All-Star weekend is out, and it is uninspiring. You've got Indiana's Paul George, Minnesota's Derrick Williams, New York's Iman Shumpert (assisted by Jeremy Lin), and Houston's Chase Budinger. The superstars won't do these kinds of competitions any mo...
Jeremy Lin Will Be In The Slam Dunk Contest, Sort Of
What? You thought Linsanity wasn't going to be part of all-star weekend? David Stern knows a good thing when he sees it and, this morning, the NBA confirmed that Lin will participate in the Haier shooting stars competition, making the Knicks guard eligible to help out his teammate Iman Shumpert, who...
Short White Guy Wins College Dunk Contest
So ends the ballad of short white guy. Jacob Tucker captured our hearts, with his average height and above-average ability to jump and slam a basketball through a rim. And these were legitimately good dunks — no affirmative action here. But if you're wondering why such an athlete would be stuck in...
And Here's The Inevitable Blake Griffin Kia Commercial
A lot of us really enjoyed the NBA Slam Dunk Contest last weekend, which brought back a little luster to an informal, if hotly debated demonstration of the sport's signature play. Well, the climax of the contest wasn't a contest at all, nor a schoolyard top-this played out on a grand stage. No, we...
