We can’t let big plays end the conversation around Deshaun Watson once he gets back on the field
It had to happen at some point during last night’s game. ...
This is bigger than Bailey Zappe and Mac Jones — Bill Belichick has never been good at drafting quarterbacks
I’m a New England Patriots fan that loves how Bill Belichick coaches football. I’m a New England Patriots fan that’s always hated how Bill Belichick drafts quarterbacks. Two things can be true at the same time....
Philadelphia Eagles’ easy schedule could ensure the road to Super Bowl runs through Philadelphia
The Philadelphia Eagles are tied for the ninth most difficult remaining strength of schedule in terms of combined winning percentage, with their remaining opponents a combined .533. That looks tough on paper, but when you read between the lines, it looks like Philly could run away with the top seed ...
If Amazon Prime can make Steelers-Browns watchable, world domination is within reach
Amazon wants its Thursday Night Football games to be a Monday or Sunday night event as bad as Cleveland wants a Super Bowl. Well, maybe not that bad, but still pretty bad. Tonight’s game between Pittsburgh and Cleveland features one AFC North team trying to find the heir to Ben Roethlisberger on the...
The ‘keep your composure!’ 0-2 NFL team rankings
The panic button is my favorite concept in NFL media. Is it red? Where is it? Is it behind glass? Who gets to push it? Why are we pushing it? What happens when it’s pushed?...
It pays to have a top target
Do you remember the wide receiver carousel of the offseason? Do you remember when star wideouts were being moved like they were 30-year-old NBA players with a salary-matching contract (looking at you Trevor Ariza)? Do you remember when teams elected not to pay their best pass-catchers because they d...
Josh Dobbs shined bright for Cleveland as he looks to lock up third QB slot
Now that Cleveland knows Deshaun Watson will miss the first 11 games of the regular season (stemming from 24 sexual misconduct civil cases), they’ll need to keep a third QB on the roster. With Jacoby Brissett already slated as the starter to begin the year, that leaves Joshua Dobbs and Josh Rosen to...
Kareem Hunt wants out of Cleveland, Jimmy G needs out of San Francisco
The offseason drama and turmoil in Cleveland will apparently carry over into the regular season. DeShaun Watson’s punishment was handed out last week to the tune of a very underwhelming six-game suspension, which has been appealed by the NFL. Now one of Cleveland’s primary offensive weapons, Kareem ...
Looking back at the NFL's QB roulette
Who will win this year’s NFL quarterback roulette?...
Baker Mayfield joins fellow 2018 draftee Sam Darnold on the Panthers
After much speculation, the Browns have officially shipped former No. 1 overall pick, Baker Mayfield, to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for a conditional 2024 fifth-round pick....
Baker Mayfield should not even consider returning to the Browns
The Cleveland Browns are headed toward the 2022-23 season, looking like the same lovable dumpster fire we’ve come to know over the years....
Tua is the most aggressive quarterback in the league? Next Gen Stats, explain yourself
I love advanced analytics. At the same time, I know the results that come from analytics can lead people down some pretty insane rabbit holes and toward some pretty hot takes. One stat leads to another, which leads to another, and all of a sudden you’re saying that C.J. Beathard deserves another sho...
Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay just cannot get over the Carson Wentz debacle
Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay is still feeling the aftershock of the Carson Wentz experiment, weeks after trading the former No. 2 overall pick to Washington. Irsay just can’t seem to get past his mistake of trading for Wentz last offseason and how the team fell apart, led by the QB at the end ...
Baker Mayfield’s not as bad as you think
If there’s one thing you can rely on with the Colts, it’s that they’ll have a high draft pick as their quarterback....
Winning seven NFL games in a row is hard — or is it?
The Miami Dolphins are the first NFL team ever to post a seven-game losing streak and a seven-game winning streak in the same season. It’s not an anomaly stemming from the new 17-game schedule either, as it only took the Fins 15 games to go from “How the hell was this team predicted to win 10-plus g...
Would you look at that — the Dolphins and Tua finally showed up this season
It’s amazing how far above average quarterback play can get you in the NFL. A lot of these teams trying to crack the hard candy shell of contending — the Broncos, Dolphins, Falcons, Colts — can take leaps with the right QB, and in the Bucs case, win it all. ...
Any given Thursday: No, the Ravens should just win this one
Normally I would say that this game doesn’t need to be played. We know who will win. It won’t be close, and anybody looking to get some excitement in their life from watching NFL football will be sorely disappointed in the final outcome. I’m floored that the Ravens are only 7.5-point favorites, but ...
NFL Powerless Rankings: The not very good, the bad and the ugly
The NFL season is halfway done, and now we know who the contenders are and the teams we can write off as pretenders. We can talk about the contenders another time because this list is about those less fortunate teams in the league. Now it’s time to check out the worst of the worst from Week 9....
We get it, Martellus Bennett: Oooooh, you’re really tough!
You know that kid in high school who could eat any spicy food, no matter how hot? They would go around gobbling ghost peppers, Carolina Reapers, or packets of “Fire” hot sauce from Taco Bell, one right after the other, just to prove they were tougher than everybody else. Then, when they asked other ...
Week 5 NFL Powerless Rankings: NY teams return to form, Fish fried
The 2021 NFL season is starting to pick up and we’re finally starting to get a clear picture of which teams are about that action and which teams are not. We can talk another day about the teams that are actually for real. This is about the teams that are not. As we do each week, let’s take a look a...
