The world is a tough place, take a quick break and listen to Jordan Mailata sing
Last week was a rough one in America. Sunday was the 59th anniversary of the passing of the Civil Right Act. It was celebrated by the United States Supreme Court swinging an ax through legislation that helps level the playing field for marginalized people. I can’t do anything about the rolling back ...
Epic upsets, stellar QBs, and the most notable sports moments of the first half of 2023
Take a deep breath before I reveal a stunning fact, it’s almost June. Some of you were just pulling out the trusty snow blower and now it’s swimsuit season — I hope your diet went better than mine....
Howie Roseman continues to rough up the NFL in trades
The bully on the block in the NFL is Howie Roseman. Other NFL general managers need to hide under their desks when he calls, because he is coming for their lunch money. For the second consecutive NFL Draft, Roseman has used the three days to significantly upgrade his roster both with rookie, and vet...
Jalen Hurts’ new contract is a sign of limited elite quarterbacks, not just his play
That’s how you stick by your man. Guess they don’t know how to do that in Baltimore. Jalen Hurts doesn’t have to worry about whether Philadelphia loves him or not, well, or at least Howie Roseman does. And he might as well speak for the City of Brotherly Love, except for how you’d get treated at Wel...
It's too soon to call San Francisco 49ers QB Trey Lance a bust
Before I get started, I want to make something clear. Trey Lance’s injury history is something that cannot be understated. He needs to stay healthy, and if he can’t, he shouldn’t be considered a franchise-caliber quarterback. This isn’t about his history of serious ouchies and boo-boos sidelining hi...

Well, Daniel Jones got his money — and the Giants tagged Saquon Barkley [Updated]
New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones wanted to get paid and he did —handsomely. Big Blue gave the 25-year-old signal-caller a four-year, $160 million extension, while also placing the franchise tag on RB Saquon Barkley, according to reports....
Chris Berman's emancipation reference is why we need to teach more Black history
Chris Berman’s postgame NFL Primetime ramblings were the soundtrack of my childhood, man. But in Sunday night’s Super Bowl postgame, Berman stepped way outside of his expertise with his ponderings about the first showdown in Super Bowl history between black quarterbacks– and placed his foot squarely...
First Black QBs to face off in the big game gave us one of the best Super Bowls ever
Jalen Hurts had to overcome a fumble that gave his opponents a touchdown. Patrick Mahomes had to deal with a bum ankle that he reinjured. They put on record-setting performances in football’s biggest game. And neither of them were white. If this is the outcome of having two Black quarterbacks face e...
The best (and worst) moments of the Super Bowl's first half
The pre-game on FOX ridiculously started at noon. And we’ve been here the entire time. You didn’t miss anything until approximately 5:30 pm ET, when FOX aired the first Snackin’ with the Stars ad....
Who's going to win Super Bowl 57 MVP?
As the lights are brightest, some step up and have truly unforgettable efforts. And some don’t, because they suck and that’s life. And one person from Super Bowl LVII will become the game’s MVP. The chances are high it’ll end up being one of the two starting quarterbacks in Patrick Mahomes and Jalen...
How to hate-watch Super Bowl 57
Listen, the Super Bowl can’t be a celebration for both teams. Derision is the energy source that fuels at least half of the NFL’s astronomical viewership. Millions of fans every week hate-watch sports scripted television, reality TV, and hate-read our site — and we thank you for your eyeballs. (But ...
D'oh: Philly homer predictably says Jalen Hurts is a more ideal QB than Patrick Mahomes
Opinions are like assholes. Everyone’s got one and most of them stink. Some stenches are way worse than others though and in the sports world, there’s no better place to see a poopy butt on display than Twitter. In today’s edition of showing your idiocy, enter Eliot Shorr-Parks, self-described Eagle...
Passing pioneers: A list of the Black quarterbacks in Super Bowl history
Sixteen years after Lovie Smith and the Chicago Bears faced off against Tony Dungy and his Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLI, making history as the first two Black head coaches to reach that game, Jalen Hurts and his Philadelphia Eagles and Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are making hi...
No, 'Bama fans, you don’t get to claim Jalen Hurts
We need a ruling on which campus gets to claim which player now that college players are transferring at a record rate. Is it where the player finishes his career? So much about being a college football fan is about measuring your program against everybody else, and one of the ways we do that is by ...
Eagles' Nick Sirianni asked comically bad question at Super Bowl's Opening Night
In the Eagles’ Nick Sirianni’s first Super Bowl as a head coach, he experienced one of the true jewels of Super Bowl week: Being asked one of the most ridiculous questions that he will ever hear....
The Eagles are flying high, but not everyone enjoys Nick Sirianni's antics
Nick Siranni has come a long way from his cringeworthy, double-talk-filled, introductory press conference in 2021. As the Philadelphia Eagles head coach, he has led the team to consecutive playoff appearances. This season they had the best record in the NFC and are playing in the Super Bowl. An acco...
Mahomes and Hurts’ Black quarterback Super Bowl showdown has been decades in the making
With all due respect to the Salt Lake City NBA All-Star Weekend, Glendale, Arizona is 2023’s “Black Super Bowl.” A week before NBA superstars and celebs descend on Utah, Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes will take the field as the first pair of black quarterbacks to start against one another in a Supe...
ICYMI: The Super Bowl is set, a fire broke out at Arrowhead, and Joe Burrow's fashion choices
The Super Bowl is set. The Philadelphia Eagles will face the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII, on Feb. 12, 2023, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Patrick Mahomes vs. Jalen Hurts will be the first time in NFL history that two Black quarterbacks will face off in the Super Bowl, which i...
NFL QB candidates for the Daniel Jones ‘Don’t give up on me just yet’ award
One of the biggest stories to come out of a very eventful New York Giants season was the emergence of Daniel Jones. Jones went from not having his option picked up to being nicknamed “Vanilla Vick” and the team most likely franchise tagging him. There are two narratives to come of this development. ...
