With Jimmy Butler reunited with head coach Tom Thibodeau, and Karl-Anthony Towns ascending, and Andrew Wiggins uhh making ...
These Damn Memphis Grizzlies Suffer Another Exquisitely Painful Loss
Things are getting mighty sad in Memphis. Franchise cornerstones Mike Conley and Marc Gasol are on the trading block. Their once-promising start to the season has spiraled nightmarishly into full-blown, total hell. Monday night they blew a 25-point lead at home and suffered through an agonizing last...

Karl-Anthony Towns has gone on a tear in the new year, averaging 28.3 points on 62 percent true shooting and 15.0 boards through three games. A more surprising and slightly longer-running trend, meanwhile, is his average of 4.6 assists over his last 10 games. As a seven-footer with range out to thre...
Karl-Anthony Towns's Leadership Role Is Starting To Emerge
Karl-Anthony Towns has shown signs of improvement both in his demeanor and on-court play since Jimmy Butler was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. But while his numbers have been steadily on the rise, he hasn’t exactly been put into the position yet where the Timberwolves needed him to seize control ...
Something's Eating Karl-Anthony Towns
Something isn’t quite right in Minnesota, and it cannot be purely explained by Jimmy Butler’s abject buttitude. Right before the season started, Karl-Anthony Towns said, “This momentum we’re riding right now, this wave we’re riding, it’s not good. It’s not good at all.” When asked why the Wolves had...
Who Needs Jimmy Butler When You've Got Uhh Derrick Rose
The Timberwolves held Jimmy Butler out of their Halloween home game against the Utah Jazz, for honestly who knows what reason. Shams says it’s part of “a six-week-long process aimed at getting the All-Star out of Minnesota.” Woj says it was for rest. Either way, the Jazz are tough customers, and sit...

Tom Thibodeau Seems Pretty Okay With Jimmy Butler Taking A Doo-Doo On His Whole Team
Jimmy Butler does not want to play for the Minnesota Timberwolves. He’s made this desire perfectly clear, first by demanding a trade and then by staging a media circus built on the one-two punch of humiliating his teammates in practice and then going on TV immediately afterwards to continue shitting...
Jimmy Butler Continues Trashing The Timberwolves And Karl-Anthony Towns In Post-Practice Interview
The Minnesota Timberwolves are having such a bad day today. It started with Jimmy Butler showing up late to practice, subbing himself into five-on-five scrimmages, and taking a gigantic shit on basically every central figure in the organization—Tom Thibodeau, Scott Layden, Andrew Wiggins, and especi...
At Least One Minnesota Timberwolves Star Doesn't Have A Problem With Commitment
While they’re still in the midst of figuring out what to do with malcontented soon-to-be free agent Jimmy Butler, the Minnesota Timberwolves at least made a bit of good news this weekend, locking up their long-term franchise guy for the foreseeable future. Karl-Anthony Towns, a man who has been indi...
"League Sources" Say Karl-Anthony Towns Is A Donkey
All the reporting about the souring of the relationship between Jimmy Butler and the Timberwolves points to fit issues between Butler, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Andrew Wiggins. Butler’s “honest conversations” with Wolves brass led in short order to a trade request, and a list of preferred trade partne...
All Is Not Well In Minnesota
Jimmy Butler helped the Minnesota Timberwolves improve their win total by a whopping 16 games from the 2016-2017 season to last season. Playing with one of the NBA’s most promising young big men and surrounded by, umm, a familiar cast of playoff-tested veterans, it would seem that Butler has landed ...

Timberwolves Collectively Melt Down During Costly Conference Loss
In the fourth quarter of Friday night’s Jazz win over the Timberwolves, Jeff Teague tracked Ricky Rubio in transition up the left sideline and randomly checked him into the row of courtside seats. The penalty for Teague was a scolding from Jazz forward Jae Crowder, and a Flagrant 2 foul, and an ejec...
Jimmy Butler Did Not Enjoy That Football Game
The Wolves whomped the Cavs last night, 127-99, as LeBron James played one of the spottiest games of his career. But for Jimmy Butler—heard here hollering in the background—the night’s real emotional stakes only came afterwards, as he watched the final moments of the college football championship. K...
And Now For Some Stupidly Bad Defense From Karl-Anthony Towns
Joel Embiid is talented and charming and big, a combination of qualities which can reasonably be quite daunting in anyone, but especially so in a basketball player. Karl-Anthony Towns’s strategy for handling all that during the second quarter tonight was just to panic-jump, arms outstretched, at a r...
The Minnesota Timberwolves Are Up To Their Same Old Bullshit
The Minnesota Timberwolves are 7-5, and 4-1 at home, and 11th in the NBA in offense, with a pair of wins over the hot-shot Oklahoma City Thunder already on their résumé. That’s good! On the other hand they don’t seem, today, like a team that’s having a very good time, fresh off a loss to the Phoenix...
The Timberwolves' Cool Youths Mushed The Thunder
When Carmelo Anthony’s high-arcing three from the left wing splashed in, to give his Oklahoma City Thunder a 113-112 fourth-quarter lead over the Timberwolves last night, it also left just under five seconds on the game clock. Time enough for Minnesota’s Andrew Wiggins to do this:...
Karl-Anthony Towns Just Keeps Wrecking Shit, Even If You Aren't Watching
By now it feels like a past life. But not long ago, games between the Timberwolves and Knicks were among the small pleasures of the early NBA season: heated clashes between two flawed teams that still tried hard, and more importantly, sported the NBA’s two most intriguing sophomores, both seven-foot...
