LA Chargers’ Austin Ekeler invites trolls into social media DMs
Chargers running back Austin Ekeler opened a big can of worms on Yahoo’s Fantasy Football Forecast with Matt Harmon. Ekeler commented on his stat line from Week 1 against the Raiders and admitted that he needs to play better, then went so far as to welcome “constructive criticism” from fantasy footb...
Stephen A. Smith forgets the basics of football
Stephen A. Smith is great television. The way he casually cascades between idioms in an excited, commanding voice is magnificent. I get jealous of his inflection just watching him. That said, he’s also had a series of brain farts that can’t be overlooked. Whether it’s ranting about nonexistent ties ...
Bolt up, not Rampage
Los Angeles is home to two football teams — the defending Super Bowl champions, and the team no one cares about. ...
It’s time for the Chargers to shine in Hollywood
The Los Angeles Chargers are officially in win-now mode after a big offseason that’s seemingly flown under the radar. LA made moves to bulk up their defense and spent big bucks to ensure they’ve at least got a shot at competing in the AFC over the next couple of years. But this two-to-three-year win...
The Ravens’ WR room has practically zero experience
The Baltimore Ravens released their first official depth chart for 2022 five days ago. It lists 12 wide receivers. Together, those dozen receivers have combined for 1,227 career receiving yards. Congratulations! That total would make the full careers of the entire Ravens’ 2022 wide receiver room the...
Russell Wilson’s oft-mocked ‘try too hard’ persona is just what the Broncos need
Do you know how we can tell Russell Wilson has that “it” factor? Because everything he does this offseason seems to spark a chain reaction on the wavelength of a butterfly causing a hurricane. It might be that Pennywise the Clown “It” factor to some, but “it’s” something, nonetheless....
Kupp was phenomenal this season, but he’s not the best WR in the league, yet
I know he had an amazing, arguably perfect year, but let’s chill out on the talk of Cooper Kupp being the greatest receiver in the game....
Let’s not anoint Cooper Kupp the best receiver in the league yet
Los Angeles Rams’ receiver Cooper Kupp is on pace for 1,964 yards in 17 games. The all-time single-season record for receiving yards is, in fact, that same 1,964, and was set in 2012 by former Detroit Lions’ receiver Calvin Johnson. ...
Deadspin predicts every “1K” player for the 2022 NFL season, Part II: WRs
Welcome to day two of Deadspin’s look at probable “1,000-yarders in the 2022 season. Yesterday, we highlighted the running backs. Today we look at receivers....
Stop making nonsensical ‘Build a roster with $10’ thingys
You know what I hate? I hate seeing those grid posts on social media that give you a certain budget to create a lineup. Seriously, I don’t understand the point of them at all. Those websites should really stop posting these things....
Which team would most benefit from adding Julio Jones?
Quintorris Lopez Jones — more commonly known as Julio Jones — has been an Atlanta Falcon his entire Hall of Fame career. But with new weapons in town, team money problems, and 32 candles on his birthday cake this year, Jones and the Falcons may be parting ways before the start of 2021....
In case you forgot, Justin Herbert had a historic rookie season
A lot of people are aware of the fact that Justin Herbert is what we in the sports word like to call “good,” but it doesn’t seem like the brilliant start to his career is being talked about enough....
Who's the best WR in the NFL? We rank 'em!
In a seemingly never-ending debate, there appears to be a new king of the mountain each week for who the best wide receiver in the NFL is. Ask 10 people and you’ll get 10 different answers — some prefer size, some prefer route running, some prefer speed. It’s like asking me what my favorite kind of ...
Keenan Allen Remains Confident Broncos' Chris Harris Jr. Cannot Wield His Undergarments
Beef! We’ve beef in the world of football, pals, between a receiver and a cornerback who share a division, which is really the only way NFL beefs can dry-age their way to maximum succulence, outside of the aging racks of intense playoff action. I’m pretty well done with that beef metaphor now....
I Hate That This Incredible Keenan Allen Catch Didn't Count
Keenan Allen has returned to form as Philip Rivers’s top targets on the Chargers following a slow start to the season. In shaking off the rust, he’s rattled off five consecutive games with a touchdown catch. Hunting for number six Thursday night, Rivers lofted a pass to the corner of the end zone on...
A Truly Devastating Juke
The Chargers, who suck, are staring down a whole host of problems this season. Joey Bosa is only nominally a Charger, their offensive line is injury-prone and bad, and they are still owned by Dean Spanos, who manages to be both cruel and incompetent. Thankfully, Keenan Allen is young and strong, and...
Reports: Keenan Allen Could Miss Rest Of Season With Lacerated Kidney
Chargers star wide receiver Keenan Allen suffered a kidney injury during his team’s loss to the Ravens, and has been in the hospital since Sunday night. Now it looks like he might miss the rest of the season....
Keenan Allen: Richard Sherman Is "Not Really A Shutdown Corner"
Richard Sherman was the least-targeted corner in the NFL last season, and still managed to rack up the most interceptions. In Week 1 against the Packers, Aaron Rodgers didn't give him a single look. For Week 2, the Chargers say they weren't scared of Sherman for a second....
