The Women’s NCAA Tournament has reached a new golden era
It’s only been a few short weeks since Outkick’s David Hookstead blamed some non-existent woke-ism manifesto for the placement of women’s college basketball dominating ESPN.com’s front page. A few weeks before that, Jason Whitlock was frothing at the mouth over women’s basketball highlights leading ...
South Carolina women’s basketball team is the best in the NCAA Tournament — regardless of gender
Whether you call it irony or coincidence, the best team playing during college basketball’s biggest moment during a month that’s dedicated to the history of women makes too much sense. Yes, we all think of the men’s game when we think of March Madness. And yes, the men’s game brings in all the money...
Dawn Staley showed a Philly legend love while knocking off an undefeated opponent
Dawn Staley had to work a few hours before the Super Bowl. Logically, ESPN and the SEC thought early that afternoon on Super Bowl Sunday would provide a great window to feature her defending champion South Carolina Gamecocks against Kim Mulkey’s LSU Tigers. Surely the programmers knew that the Phila...
A rising tide lift all boats and it's time we threw Jason Whitlock’s ilk overboard
Choosing between women’s and men’s sports is a false choice. If you’re a certain blogger for Glenn Beck’s conservative Blaze media, revisionist history can be a comfort zone that vilifies feminism in sports as your woke sports boogeyman, but makes you look like a headass instead. Jason Whitlock’s re...
Players and recruits shouldn’t trust Kim Mulkey, who was useless when it came to Brittney Griner
Editor’s note: This column has been updated to include a comment from Kim Mulkey....
Kim Mulkey is incapable of basic human empathy
Kim Mulkey’s modus operandi is to be loud and wrong, so it was pretty telling when on Monday she declined to show the minimum level of support for Brittney Griner. The old axiom, “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all,” applies to college basketball’s Lord Palpatine, whos...
UConn has 1 focus at Final Four
It wasn’t the all-out classic that Monday in Bridgeport was, but UConn took down another No. 1 seed on Friday night, dethroning defending national champion Stanford, 63-58....
Record-breaking performances by women in March Madness
With the official March Madness sticker finally slapped onto the women’s NCAA basketball tourney, this year’s field has truly embraced the name of the game. As fiscal, concrete, and abstract changes have been implemented into the women’s tournament this year in an attempt to make it more equitable w...
Goodbye and good riddance to Will Wade
It took way too long to oust Will Wade from his place atop LSU men’s basketball, but the deserved guillotine finally made its swift chop on Saturday afternoon, a major moment in the 4-year-plus NCAA investigation into wrongdoing surrounding his time in Baton Rouge. Wade was fired with cause, meaning...
And your SEC women’s hoop champion is… Kentucky?
For the first time in 40 seasons, the Kentucky Wildcats emerged as champions of the SEC conference tournament. The Wildcats have been NCAA Tournament regulars, but Sunday’s final marks only their third conference regular season or tournament championship. The Wildcats’ conference championship wouldn...
It hasn’t taken Kim Mulkey long
With only two games left in the regular season, the LSU women’s basketball team sits at No. 8 in the national rankings. Sitting second in their conference, behind consensus No. 1 South Carolina, we can finally, confidently say that the Kim Mulkey-led Tigers have turned things around. ...
Can we talk about the most dominant team in sports right now?
There’s an outlier on the South Carolina women’s basketball schedule. It happened nearly two months ago in Columbia, Missouri to begin Southeastern Conference play against Mizzou. The Gamecocks were at full strength while the Tigers were far from it. An Omicron outbreak knocked out six players, leav...
SEC out to conquer more than football as Auburn hoops is No. 1 for first time in school history
The Southeastern Conference doesn’t have a plan only to dominate in football. The league’s leadership believes a monopoly, like its 12 of the last 16 national gridiron championships, including the last three with a trio of different schools, can be achieved across the board....

Baylor coach Kim Mulkey continues consistent ignorance
Baylor University, which is a (air quotes) “Christian university,” continues to be a magnet for shit behavior. Baylor’s women’s basketball coach Kim Mulkey continued to perpetuate that behavior with a display of disgusting ignorance following their loss to UConn in the Elite 8. ...
March Madness, the NCAA’s biggest moneymaker, is back
You know that saying about how you should never put all your eggs in one basket? Well, that’s the only way the NCAA knows how to operate.....
