Twins Pitcher Glen Perkins Gets Caught Flipping The Bird
The Twins called up starting pitcher Jose Berrios on Tuesday, and as the 21-year-old met his new major-league teammates in the dugout, reliever Glen Perkins was seen in the background giving the middle finger. Though it appeared that Perkins was flipping off Berrios, the actual target wasn’t in fram...
These Korean Announcers Are Excited As Hell About Byung-ho Park's Huge Dingers
The Twins lost the first nine games of the regular season, then won four in a row, and finally lost again today to the Brewers. Their scoring has (obviously) increased greatly during their run of newfound competence, and their rookie first baseman Byung-ho Park has been at the center of it all. He’s...
Torii Hunter, All-Time Near-Great Centerfielder, Retires
My defining memory of Torii Hunter’s baseball career comes from the 2002 All-Star Game, when he robbed Barry Bonds of a home run. Bonds was in the middle of four straight seasons of destroying space-time, but Hunter was pretty darn good too, finishing sixth in the AL MVP race and winning his second ...
Angry Baby Paul Molitor Yells At Jose Ramirez To "Get The Fuck Off The Field"
After hitting a three-run home run to put the Indians up 10-1 on the Twins in the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader, Jose Ramirez had the sheer audacity to watch his blast and flip his bat. This did not sit well with the Twins dugout, who for some inexplicable reason were angry at Ramirez for ...
Torii Hunter Melts Down, Throws Jersey After Ejection
Torii Hunter did not like the strike-two call by home-plate umpire Mark Ripperger, and let him know. He was wrong; it was a good pitch. Torii Hunter definitely did not like strike three, which was well off the plate outside. “I thought the last pitch he called a strike was revenge,” Hunter said, and...
Red Sox Broadcast Airs Video Of Metrodome Implosion That Never Happened
Yesterday’s NESN broadcast of the Red Sox-Twins game featured a mid-game interlude of the announcers discussing their memories of the dear, departed Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. It also featured video of the Metrodome being imploded—something that never happened....
Feisty Bert Blyleven Trashes Detroit
While today’s Twins-Tigers game was in a rain delay, former Twins pitcher and current analyst Bert Blyleven updated his Twitter followers with photos of the field, and took some cracks at Detroit’s expense in the process....
Anti-Gay Bigot Torii Hunter Calls Reporter "Prick" Four Times
Torii Hunter is an anti-gay bigot. This is something he has proven with his own words on multiple occasions. Yesterday, at the press conference to announce the one-year, $10.5 million deal he signed to return to the Minnesota Twins, beat writer Mike Berardino of the Saint Paul Pioneer-Press aske...
Phil Hughes Turned Down The Twins' $500,000 Offer
Yesterday, a rain delay took Twins pitcher Phil Hughes out of the game one out shy of achieving a $500,000 innings-pitched contract bonus. Today, the Twins offered to make things right—and Hughes declined....
A Rain Delay Cost Phil Hughes $500,000
Phil Hughes has been one of the only bright spots for the Twins, and one of the biggest surprises in baseball. After going eight innings yesterday, with five strikeouts and no walks, his K/BB ratio sits at an incredible 11.6/1—an MLB record for qualified pitchers. But if only Hughes could have gone ...
Listen To Cheryl Tiegs's Very Sloppy Appearance On Twins TV And Radio
Maybe Cheryl Tiegs is really tired. Maybe she's really intoxicated! But the former supermodel dropped in on both the Twins' TV and radio broadcasts tonight during Minnesota's game against the Tigers, and she sounded.. sloppy....
Twins Rip Tigers 20-6, Get A Couple Homers Off The Shortstop
Andrew Romine came in to pitch the eighth inning for the Tigers in what was then a 17-5 thumping by the Twins. Andrew Romine is the the Tigers shortstop, but he filled in admirably and was thanked by his manager for doing so. Eating up the inning and saving a starter or Joe Nathan from having to pit...
Minor-League Pitchers Combine To Finish Very Strange No-Hitter
Logan Darnell of the Rochester Red Wings, a Triple-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, put the finishing touches on a no-hitter against the Durham Bulls Monday night. Darnell only pitched the last six innings of the game, though, and the man who originally started the game isn't even a member of the...
Twins Prospect Byron Buxton Carted Off Field After Outfield Collision
Byron Buxton, baseball's top prospect, suffered a concussion in his first start in Double-A tonight, playing center field for the New Britain Rock Cats. In the fifth inning he collided with right fielder Mike Kvasnicka and remained motionless, in a heap for several minutes immediately after....
Phil Hughes Spazzes Out, Tries To Catch Invisible Liner
This happened on Wednesday night, but it's worth pointing out today because LOL, Phil Hughes, what are you even doing right now?...
The Twins Have Apparently Found The Real-Life Sidd Finch
One of the weirdest baseball stories of the year is about Brandon Poulson, a 24-year-old pitching prospect whom the Twins just plucked from the void for the price of $250,000. Nobody's ever heard of Poulson until now, but if the early stories about him are to be believed, he's basically the non-ho...
Underrated Baseball Thing: A Good Bat Snap
There are few things more satisfying than seeing a player snap his bat over his knee after a strikeout. Minnesota's Oswaldo Arcia came yesterday through with a good, solid break, with plenty of shrapnel, a sumptuous audible crack, and plenty of replay angles. ...
Chuck Knoblauch Charged With Assaulting Ex; HOF Induction Called Off
Chuck Knoblauch's induction into the Twins Hall of Fame has been canceled—not just postponed, but canceled, as in, he simply won't be put into the Twins Hall of Fame—after the former player was arrested and accused of beating up his ex-wife....
