Words Cannot Begin To Describe The Horror Of Fergie's All-Star Game National Anthem
Something insane and terrible happened before tonight’s NBA All-Star Game. No one will ever be able to explain it to my satisfaction. Even in the context of the NBA’s disastrous, shriekingly awkward pregame nightmare, Fergie’s national anthem was an absolute abomination. A goose being strangled in y...
These Dudes Have Recorded A Rap Tribute To The NBA All-Stars For 13 Straight Years
The important thing to bear in mind when assessing anything that happened in 1989 is that, from the perspective of 2018, the thing being assessed happened in a different world. That world still had people in it, which meant it had about equal amounts of vicious awful dumbassery and goofball beauty, ...
The Dunk Contest Is Bad Again
It is with great sadness and more than a little frustration at having stayed up to watch the stupid thing that I must report that the NBA dunk contest, which looked for a few years there like it might be good again, is, in fact, bad again....
Ha Ha, Look At These Two Chumps Who Got Picked Last For The NBA All Star Teams
Part of the discussion around the NBA’s new All Star format, where the teams are selected via a draft by the top two players in fan voting, is whether the draft should be televised, or otherwise broadcast, or in any way made public. You see, that was not done this time around, and so fans (and playe...
Russell Westbrook Mistakenly Thought He Was Picked Last In The All-Star Draft, So He Went Out And Scored 46 Points
Russell Westbrook went off last night, scoring 46 points and adding six boards and six assists in the Thunder’s 121-112 victory over the Wizards. Westbrook, it seems, was playing angry. And his teammates appear to have been happy not to disabuse him of his motivation....
They Should Leave Andre Drummond Out Of All-Star Games More Often
Andre Drummond is having the best season of his career, thanks in huge part to improvements as a free-throw shooter and passer, but it wasn’t enough to earn him his second All-Star selection. On Tuesday, he took his frustrations to Twitter:...
Here Are All The NBA Players Who Got Exactly One All-Star Starter Vote From Their Peers
The NBA is doing something slightly different with their all-star game this year, where the two top vote-getters from each conference will serve as captains and draft a team of their fellow starters. They won’t broadcast it, which defeats the purpose, but whatever, LeBron James and Steph Curry are t...

$500,000 Raised For Craig Sager's Foundation, No Thanks To Stephen Curry
A celebrity three-point challenge followed by a series of Stephen Curry bricks led to Craig Sager’s son—with help from Shaquille O’Neal—sinking a bucket that led to a $500,000 donation to the Sagerstrong Foundation....
DNCE Stands For "Destroyed Nearby Crowd's Ears"
Move over, Aloe Blacc. There’s a new worst NBA All-Star-related musical performance, and it’s this hilariously off-key appearance by Joe Jonas....

After All That, Nick Kyrgios Isn't In The NBA All-Star Celebrity Game
Last fall, tennis’s rowdiest underperformer Nick Kyrgios said he was pulling out of the Rotterdam Open, an ATP 500 tournament that begins in four days, so he could compete in the NBA’s Celebrity Game during All-Star Weekend. This struck me as wise for a few reasons. First, late in last year’s seaso...
Here Are Your NBA All-Star Reserves
I hope you like watching the Warriors play basketball, because both Klay Thompson and Draymond Green made the NBA All-Star game for the second year running. DeAndre Jordan somehow made it over Rudy Gobert, which is a travesty, but at least Handsome Gordon Hayward got in there....
Steve Kerr Rips Players For Not Taking Their All-Star Votes Seriously
For the first time in NBA All-Star Game history, players had a chance to vote on the game’s starters. While their choices didn’t diverge terribly from the eventual starters chosen by a coalition of fans, players, and media members, several players who hadn’t played a minute received votes. Fans will...
For the first time, players had a hand in voting for the starters of the NBA All-Star Game, and the NBA released the full results this evening. Of note: they had Isaiah Thomas and Russell Westbrook making it; meanwhile, Quincy Pondexter, Brice Johnson, and a few others who haven’t played at all this...
Here Are Your NBA All-Star Game Starters
For the first time, voting on the starters for the NBA All-Star game was not exclusively left up to fans. While votes from fans still hold the most weight (50 percent), they were on equal footing with the combined votes of the media and the players (25 percent each). This was intended to prevent a K...
Sorry, Zaza Pachulia Will Not Be An All-Star
The NBA released the first returns for All-Star Game voting earlier today, and in the West, Warriors role player Zaza Pachulia sits second among frontcourt players, behind only Kevin Durant. It’s an especially impressive feat because this year he was seemingly fueled only by love from his homeland, ...
Nick Kyrgios Picks NBA Celebrity Game Over Tennis Tournament, Which Is Actually Good As Hell
Nick Kyrgios has done dumb things lately and has taken plenty of heat for it—from disappointed fans, from hand-wringing commentators, and from the ATP itself via heavy fines and suspension. They’ll all be tempted to wag their fingers again after Kyrgios’s latest move: pulling out of February’s Rot...
