If the NFL wanted good refereeing, it would have it
You do have to appreciate that the officiating crew on the league’s Sunday Night game, supposedly the marquee matchup of the week where the entire NFL world tunes in, was able to pack in so much moron-acy into one final drive. The density of clueless officiating in the last minute of Kansas City Chi...
The case against Deion Sanders as Sportsperson of the Year
We are on the brink of our last full college football Saturday slate before bowl season. So, it’s apropos that Deion Sanders’ overhype earned him Sports Illustrated’s Sportsperson of the Year. After announcing Sanders as the recipient of the honor, Sports Illustrated is dodging tomatoes from the Int...
Justin Fields and Josh Dobbs capped a week littered with awful QB play
There are far more important things to be thankful for in this world than being a fan of an NFL team with consistent quarterback play. Beginning with that caveat, many Americans do spend a lot of hours watching football. The product is exponentially better when the quarterbacks are above average....
Week 12 NFL Takeaways: Live by the field goal, die by the field goal
On Sunday, the NFL made up for its Thanksgiving product that was more sleep-inducing than wolfing down a half-pound turkey in one afternoon. Jordan Love’s late-season turnaround was worthy of a hat tip, but the rest of the day would have been better spent arguing about the 2024 election. ...
Miles Bridges takes the joy out of watching the Hornets
I don’t have a favorite NBA team. There is no fingernail biting or throwing of remote controls in my home when viewing the league. What I do have is players whom I most enjoy watching. Two of them used to be LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges. I used to always look forward to the Charlotte Hornets’ 4 p.m...
We’ve seen the Tush Push, now get ready for the Nose Tackle Nutmeg
If you weren’t too afraid of the never-ending Taylor Swift references to watch last night’s Philadelphia Eagles-Kansas City Chiefs game, you might have noticed Philly defensive tackle Jalen Carter doing something you have never seen before late in the first half. (Personally, I’m far more offended b...
Howie Roseman sure knows how to assemble a stacked roster
Obviously, the Kansas City Chiefs could have played better. Maybe the offense misses the big plays that JuJu Smith-Schuster made to help lift them past the Philadelphia Eagles in last season’s Super Bowl. The referees could have also been better at their jobs....
Dak Prescott is playing quarterback better than anyone in the NFL
The low points have been beneath the asphalt for the Dallas Cowboys this season. That loss on national television to the San Francisco 49ers was ugly, and it was Dak Prescott at his worst. Three interceptions never looks good on a stat sheet, but the Cowboys were already down, 28-10, midway through ...
If only the Cleveland Browns had someone like Josh Dobbs as their backup QB...
Not even a full 72 hours after the Cleveland Browns’ biggest win of the 2023 season, expectations that were on the rise have crashed right onto Brownie the Elf’s face at midfield of their home stadium. ...
Jared Goff is playing like the best quarterback in the NFL
Jared Goff’s time with the Detroit Lions began the same way that it ended with the Los Angeles Rams, disappointing. By Week 7 of his first season with the Lions, Dan Campbell looked at the media, took a deep breath, and criticized Goff during a postgame press conference. At that point in the season,...
It seems the only jab Aaron Rodgers will take is one at Travis Kelce
There is no antidote or vaccine available for Aaron Rodgers’ brain worm infestation. He’s always been a doofus of his own making. During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, a humbled Rodgers used his opportunity to applaud the New York Jets defense to insert a dig at Travis Kelce by referring to h...
Let’s NOT blame Taylor Swift for the Chiefs’ middling play
Women NFL fans everywhere knew the tweet was coming. A superstar female paramour, an NFL player, middling play from his team. We’ve all seen this play before. It was ESPN’s Mike Greenberg who showed up, right on time:...
There was one thing Zach Wilson didn't boot Sunday night
There is reason to question if Zach Wilson has learned how to play the quarterback position better since last season. What he has been able to do, though, is learn to drop his stank attitude and go over the top in accepting blame in defeat. Wilson fell on his sword in front of the media following th...
NBC tried to ride the Swift-Kelce wave Sunday night. It ended badly
I’ve had little to no problem with the coverage of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. ...
Sorry, Mark Cuban, but you need to calm down
I guess you saw those numbers, Mark Cuban. ...
Travis Kelce breaks down his Taylor Swift-centric Sunday. Was it enchanting to meet her?
Travis Kelce brought this on himself and he knows that. That was his insistence, at least, on the podcast he hosts with his brother. On this week’s episode of New Heights, Jason Kelce and the most-talked-about bachelor in America dove deep into how the Kansas City Chiefs tight end went from a Hall o...

Jalen Hurts has his flu game, sort of
Sept. 25 is not a deciding date on the NFL calendar, especially for teams that entered that game undefeated. When the Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers put their 2-0 records against each other in a Week 3 Monday Night Football matchup, the men in the red jerseys, led by Baker Mayfield, fe...
Travis Kelce is running away with Sportsman of the Year
Sportsman of the year is one of those nebulous awards that checks off boxes by usually honoring a do-gooder, an activist athlete, some stereotypical quarterback, a Finals MVP, Tiger Woods, the fastest man in the world, an American gymnast or some gold medalist in the pool during an Olympic year. ...
You can stick a fork in these NFL teams, because they are done
The 2023 NFL season is in full swing and, three weeks in, there are already a few teams we can count out — because they’re finished. A couple of these teams might shock you, but if you haven’t won a game by this point, the odds of making the postseason are slim. Only six teams in NFL history have ev...
