HEAR ME OUT: MLB should restructure league like Euro soccer
It’s always neat when a European sporting event comes along and provides some games to watch during the daytime hours here in North America. Right now, it’s the pandemic-delayed Euro 2020 soccer tournament, and while the teams involved are national sides, part of the nature of soccer is that there’s...
Matt Nagy being on the hot seat in Chicago makes zero sense (to non-Bears fans)
When the Chicago Bears shocked the NFL world by trading up nine spots to select Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields with the 11th overall pick, the entire football world applauded Chicago for such a great move. The lack of a consistent starting quarterback had been the biggest elephant on the Bears...
With Alex Rodriguez as ownership, at least there’s a damn Latino in the room
Look at what it takes to get a seat at the table....
NFL schedule offers weird and wonderful highlights (and, oddly, a lot of Saints in primetime)
Football people are weird people, because we get giddy over something as simple as a schedule release. That giddy feeling happened last night, as the NFL (and it’s teams’ social media departments) released their full 18-week slate for the upcoming season, which will be the first in which every team ...

Don’t look now, but the Lions are quietly having an incredible offseason
The Lions are somehow a comedy and tragedy at the same time. They’re like the Forrest Gump of NFL teams, if Forrest Gump didn’t entertain anyone. Despite several very talented players throughout their history, the Lions have never won a Super Bowl let alone played in one. Hell, they’ve only won one ...
Packers complaining about tampering is ridiculous
Aaron Rodgers is an outdated cry-baby and the Packers front office is equally bad. Apparently, the Packers are yelling “that’s not fair” and saying other teams, including the San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos, “tampered” with Rodgers by letting him know that they were interested in trading for ...
Browns fans have earned this Factory of Gladness
Take a bow, Browns fans. After years of torment, ridicule, bags over heads, a parade “celebrating” a winless campaign, and a Factory of Sadness, you have earned the right to be excited for this season, and the season after that, and the season after that. Yes, there was already excitement brewing in...

You might actually get ‘Super Bowl Monday’ off thanks to the NFL’s 17-game schedule (and Presidents)
The NFL’s 17-game schedule, which was just approved this afternoon, is many things. Odd? for sure. A risk to player health? Definitely. “Dumb as hell”? Alvin Kamara says so....

Adam Silver triples down on NBA All-Star Game, and it’s probably for the exact reasons you think
The decision to not only hold an NBA All-Star Weekend in Atlanta, highlighted by the game itself on March 7, is as befuddling as commissioner Adam Silver’s efforts to triple-down on it. Last night, Silver spoke to Inside The NBA regarding the All-Star Game, and Ernie Johnson actually opened the floo...
Naomi Osaka isn't Serena Williams' rival – she's her legacy
There is a poignancy in the current moment in women’s tennis. Naomi Osaka learned from the best, and then ended another one of Serena Williams’ evanescent chances to tie Margaret Court’s 24 record Grand Slam singles titles....
NBA has answered the When, Where and How of the 2021 All-Star Game, but what about the Why?
The NBA released a memo of what their totally farkakte March 7 All-Star Game will look like. The Slam Dunk Contest will indeed take place during halftime of the game, and the 3-Point Contest will be held before the game. Players who are part of the game must travel to Atlanta in private jets and mus...
MLB safety’s plan for 2021 has a major minor hole in it
For all the trouble that the NBA and NHL are having with their current seasons, it’s all the more remarkable what Major League Baseball was able to achieve outside of a bubble last year....
The Super Bowl’s pregame ceremony was gaslighting of the highest order
