Jared Goff is playing well— the Lions still need to pick a quarterback
The Detroit Lions are currently 5-7 — two games away from a wild card spot. They have won four of their last five, and their lone loss was by only three points to the Buffalo Bills — a team many people consider Super Bowl favorites. With five games left on their schedule, only two are against teams ...
Don’t be an idiot! Bet the spread, not the moneyline in Texans-Cowboys
There’s no better feeling in the world than risking very little money and winning a boatload of cash. It’s why parlays have become so popular in the last few years. Why make $100 on a $100 bet, when you could make $10,000 just by picking six more games correctly, right?!...
The US Midterm elections explained to NFL fans
U.S. midterm elections are similar to the midpoint of the NFL season in that everyone is under the impression that it’s all rigged when, in fact, it’s merely a complex, shambolic set of systems from state to state that are sometimes overburdened and can fall victim to the occasional human error. The...

Ranking the 12 NFL head coaches hired straight from the Power 5 college ranks since 2000
Dear NFL GMs and owners, you may want to think twice about hiring a head coach straight outta the college ranks. While there have been success stories — Jimmy Johnson going from the U to Big D being the best example — that really hasn’t been the case in this millennium. Matt Rhule is the latest flop...

NFL Week 5: MVP and LVP
Who had the better four-touchdown outburst, Travis Kelce or Taysom Hill? Kelce and Hill showed that efficient production trumps volume in wins. In the red zone, Kelce has a knack for getting open, and despite only gaining 25 yards on seven receptions, he maneuvered himself open for Mahomes on nearly...

Week 4 NFL Most and Least Valuable Players: Baker Mayfield watched Patrick Mahomes’ transcendent talent from the NFL cellar
Justin Jefferson’s 10 catches for 147 yards in London buoyed the Vikings’ win over New Orleans, Saquon Barkley once again took on multiple duties in the Giants’ zero-quarterback offense and Seattle’s Geno Smith earned the weekend’s highest pass-rating, but in Kansas City’s resounding win, Patrick Ma...
NFL Week 3: Bettors banking on *checks notes* Detroit Lions to win Super Bowl
For many moons, the Detroit Lions have been the laughingstock of the NFL. They’ve been the Cleveland Browns of the NFC, the clowns at the circus, the Packers’ little brothers who just want to get a seat at the adult table on Thanksgiving — but not anymore. Through two weeks, the Detroit Lions have s...
The ‘keep your composure!’ 0-2 NFL team rankings
The panic button is my favorite concept in NFL media. Is it red? Where is it? Is it behind glass? Who gets to push it? Why are we pushing it? What happens when it’s pushed?...
The Patrick Mahomes hate continues
I know that it’s just an image, from a corporate Twitter account nonetheless. It’s there strictly for engagement purposes....
Howelling at the moon: Washington not getting anywhere with Wentz at QB
Entering his junior season at Chapel Hill, Sam Howell had NFL Draft experts salivating. He and Spencer Rattler were thought to be the franchise-changing quarterbacks of the 2022 class. How quickly they both fell out of favor. Rattler lost his starting job at Oklahoma and transferred to South Carolin...
CJ Stroud is a Heisman favorite, which can only mean he’s due for disappointment

Carolina Panthers could be Super Bowl dark horse or disappointment — both are somehow likely
The Carolina Panthers have the best chance of taking one of this year’s top 10 draft picks, translating that into a Super Bowl appearance the quickest in a similar journey to last season’s Bengals squad. The likeness is easy to spot. A major injury to a superstar, Joe Burrow, and Christian McCaffrey...
