It’s another wild and woolly Saturday of college football
It’s a noon slot of pure chaos yet again, as the No. 8 Oklahoma Sooners finally met their match in Waco against No. 13 Baylor and were promptly subjected to one of the more unhinged endings to a game that I’ve ever seen. Caleb Williams was struggling on offense all day, throwing two interceptions a...
'Spoilermakers' eye Buckeyes in Top 20 clash, and many more goodies on a big Saturday
College football fans have been spoiled rotten for the past few weekends as Saturdays have been filled with beautiful weather, unbelievable comebacks, huge upsets, and just plain old great football. In a season where it truly does feel like it’s anyone’s game, tomorrow’s slate of games promises plen...
Cincinnati snubbed, CFP Committee says that previous seasons don’t matter, ranks 'Bama ahead of undefeated teams
While it’s safe to say that no one really knew what was coming with the first set of College Football Playoff rankings, which aired last night on ESPN, I don’t know that anyone saw Alabama ranked at No. 2. At 3 — Sure! At 4 — why not? But to put a one-loss Alabama team ahead of every undefeated and ...
Somehow the 'BuT-tHe-AmATeUR-MoDeL!' NCAA survived the beginning of NIL
We’re approaching the four-month mark since the NCAA officially approved name, image, and likeness rights for student-athletes and, somehow, the apocalypse has not come, the collegiate model has not collapsed, and Dabo Swinney is still coaching (to some extent, at least). As athletes, schools, spons...
SEE IT: Caleb Williams converts on 4th down on unprecedented 'strip' of own player
With Oklahoma up just five in the fourth quarter, coach Lincoln Riley decided to play aggressively, keeping the offense on the field for a 4th-and-1 on OU’s 46-yard line. The Sooners’ defense had been pecked apart (buh-dum-tss) in the second half, and the Jayhawks’ last drive prior to this play saw ...
Turns out Oklahoma’s Heisman candidate was their backup QB all along!
This year’s Heisman race felt a lot like last year’s race early on, in that no one really dropped jaws instantly a la Lamar Jackson, Reggie Bush or Johnny Football. It will probably end up going to Bryce Young, just because Alabama will be 12-2/13-1 and his stats will be better than everyone else’s....
The Big Ten rightfully takes center stage in Week 6
College football has been real wacky in 2021. Who would’ve thought Clemson would immediately fall apart without Trevor Lawrence? Who would’ve thought Spencer Rattler would look so inconsistent? Who would’ve thought that USC would collapse the way they did? Okay, a lot of people probably predicted th...
