The NFL's 5 most intriguing Week 1 storylines
The 2022 NFL season kicks off Thursday, with the Los Angeles Rams beginning their title defense against this year’s favorite, the Buffalo Bills. Other than this potential Super Bowl matchup in Week 1, there are plenty of different storylines to keep an eye on coming out of a tumultuous offseason. ...
AFC East Preview: Buffalo is the class of the division
Logical outcome: Bills AFC East champions...
It’s make or break time for JuJu Smith-Schuster
In March, JuJu Smith-Schuster signed a one-year $10.75 million contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. Playing with Patrick Mahomes, this is his prove-it-or-lose- season. There are no more excuses if JuJu doesn’t play up to No. 1 receiver standards when the best young quarterback of this generation is...
Is Tyreek Hill the high tide that can lift Tua’s boat?
Mike McDaniel’s pod of Dolphins has already made splashes. In its preseason finale, Miami dropped 48 on the Philadelphia Eagles and Tua Tagovailoa completed 6-of-7 passes for 121 yards and led three scoring drives....
Cut the crap, Kirk Cousins and Justin Jefferson are a Top 10 duo in the NFL
Lists, lists, and more lists. ...
The Ravens’ WR room has practically zero experience
The Baltimore Ravens released their first official depth chart for 2022 five days ago. It lists 12 wide receivers. Together, those dozen receivers have combined for 1,227 career receiving yards. Congratulations! That total would make the full careers of the entire Ravens’ 2022 wide receiver room the...
DK Metcalf has his flaws, but he’s worth every penny of his new contract
Fourth-year wide receiver DK Metcalf is a pretty polarizing player. Depending on who you ask, Metcalf is either a top-tier talent with elite physical attributes or a deep threat who wouldn’t be able to carry a passing attack without Tyler Lockett on the opposite side of him. You can’t deny his stati...
Okay, I’ll hype up the Julio Jones signing
Julio Jones is joining forces with Tom Brady....
Not so fast Justin Jefferson, Davante Adams isn’t the only WR you’ll need to pass for best in the NFL
Minnesota Vikings star wide receiver Justin Jefferson is calling his shot by saying he’ll be the best at his position by the end of the 2022 NFL season. Jefferson’s bold proclamation has been the talk of Twitter, but he might not be far off. The third-year wideout offered up his thoughts in a recent...
Miami’s Raheem Mostert is Mike McDaniel’s X-Factor
Since the dawn of time, mankind has had but one goal: “I. MUST. GO. FAST.” Whether it be speedrunning Super Mario 64 on Twitch, Joey Chestnut wolfing down 70-plus hot dogs in 5 minutes (You could never!), or Lightning McQueen going for the Piston Cup, speed has always dazzled onlookers and made for ...
Somebody please tell Tyreek Hill that flattery will only get Tua so far
Since arriving in Miami, Tyreek Hill has been endlessly podcasting and writing checks his quarterback can’t cash. He said Tua Tagovailoa is more accurate than his former quarterback Patrick Mahomes. He gushed over his arm strength. On Saturday’s show, he said, “Reporters, analysts, Twitter trolls. A...
Travis Kelce’s age, not Tyreek Hill’s absence, is the key to Kansas City’s season
Before I start, Travis Kelce should still be the first tight end off the board in this year’s fantasy football draft. He’s going to get an increased workload with Tyreek Hill in Miami, and Patrick Mahomes will lean on him early like you lean on that one person you know at the wedding before the alco...
Big bucks for wide receivers is bad news for several other positions
There are currently 12 wide receivers in the NFL with contracts that earn them an average annual value of $20 million or more. Nine of those contracts — Chris Godwin, DJ Moore, Cooper Kupp, Davante Adams, Tyreek Hill, Mike Williams, A.J. Brown, Terry McLaurin, and Stefon Diggs — were signed during t...
Tua is the most aggressive quarterback in the league? Next Gen Stats, explain yourself
I love advanced analytics. At the same time, I know the results that come from analytics can lead people down some pretty insane rabbit holes and toward some pretty hot takes. One stat leads to another, which leads to another, and all of a sudden you’re saying that C.J. Beathard deserves another sho...
DeSean Jackson and LeSean McCoy: Andy Reid does not talk to rookies
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is one of the greatest coaches of his era and possesses one of the more creative offensive minds the NFL has seen over the last 20 years. Like any coach, Reid has a set of rules and guidelines he lives by, and one that was revealed recently might shock you. Ap...
Cut the semantics crap, Kevin, you know what Draymond meant about Steph Curry, and he’s right
As much as I’m looking forward to seeing the Golden State Warriors back in the NBA Finals, what I’m not looking forward to is paying them many compliments. They’re extremely fun to watch, no less fun than the League Pass alert days of 2013 and 2014. However, Charles Barkley is correct when he says t...
What in the name of Joan Callamezzo is going on at 49ers’ OTAs?
Far be it for me to blast any blogger for blasting a player. The amount of incendiary shit I’ve written this month alone would probably provoke a confrontation — or 60 — from a sports figure if I was physically present at a practice facility during the work week....
Does Deebo Samuel have an infatuation with Dallas or merely trolling to get what he wants?
Deebo Samuel might have 19 problemz, but his contract is the biggest one. In pursuit of a big-money extension or trade, Samuel is taking the troll route. Deebo was in Dallas for Game 3 of the NBA Western Conference finals, surely showing support for the Golden State Warriors, and was seen shaking ha...
At Last! The NFL’s Pro Bowl may be no more!
Yesterday we finally got news that the NFL is considering eliminating the Pro Bowl!...
No more excuses: 2022 needs to be Tua time in Miami
Year Three will be a make-or-break year in Miami for Tua Tagovailoa. While the former Alabama QB has been decent for the Dolphins, he’s yet to lead them to the postseason. There’s absolutely no reason that shouldn’t change in 2022 with how the team has been restructured to focus more on the offensiv...
