Taylor Ward hits walk-off homer, Angels avoid sweep against White Sox

Mandatory Credit: Jonathan Hui-Imagn Images Taylor Ward hit a three-run home run with one out in the bottom of the ninth, as the Los Angeles Angels rallied from a 5-0 deficit for a 8-5 walk-off victory over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday afternoon in Anaheim, Calif.
Ward, who finished with four RBIs, hit a 3-2 sweeper from Chicago reliever Tyler Alexander (4-10) 397-feet into the left field bullpen for his career-high 26th homer and third career walk-off home run. It was the eighth walk-off win for the Angels this season.
Zach Neto homered and doubled, while driving in three runs. Nolan Schanuel doubled and had two hits, while scoring two runs. Mike Trout reached base three times with a double and two intentional walks and scored two runs, as the Angels snapped a three-game losing streak. Kenley Jansen (4-2) picked up the win with a scoreless top of the ninth in relief.
For the White Sox, Colson Montgomery went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs, Brooks Baldwin had three hits, Luis Robert Jr. went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, and Lenyn Sosa scored two runs. Chicago had a three-game winning streak snapped.
Chicago took a 4-0 lead in the first inning with an RBI single by Robert Jr., driving in Sosa who had singled, and a three-run homer by Montgomery. It was the seventh home run in the last 11 games for Montgomery.
The White Sox extended the lead to 5-0 in the third inning when Sosa led off with a walk, advanced to second on a single by Robert Jr., and scored on a single by Montgomery.
Los Angeles cut the lead to 5-3 in the sixth inning. Neto led off with his 16th home run, a 412-foot drive to left-center. Nolan Schanuel followed with a walk and went to third on Trout's double into the left field corner. Ward then drove in Schanuel with a single, and Trout scored the third run on a wild pitch by reliever Mike Vasil.
The Angels tied it in the seventh on a two-run double by Neto to the gap in left-center, driving in Christian Moore, who had singled, and Gustavo Campero, who was pinch-running for Yoan Moncada, who had singled.
