Team USA Is A 54-Point Favorite Against Tunisia Tonight
Hot off the presses, from online sportsbook an online sportsbook (formerly an online sportsbook): the men's basketball team is favored by a whopping 54 points tonight. Poor Tunisia.
"In my days in this business I cannot remember setting a spread so high for a basketball game," says Kevin Bradley, an online sportsbook's sportsbook manager. Even so, "65 percent of the money is still coming in on the USA and the pace has been steadily increasing all morning."
So, 54 points? That's sort of insane-sounding, but the U.S. women did beat Angola by 52 yesterday. With an over/under of 164, Vegas is expecting a final score in the neighborhood of 109-55. That's a per-quarter score of about 27-14. So while Tunisia may not have much of a chance at a competitive game tonight, betting—as usual—can make it nerve-wracking.
Tip-off is at 5:15 EDT.
