Mandatory Credit: Troy Taormina-Imagn Images Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon will miss his second consecutive game, inactive for Sunday's home contest against the winless Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Texans (2-1) had listed Mixon as questionable because of a sprained ankle and he was limited in practice this week.
Mixon, 28, is the team's leading rusher with 184 yards on 39 carries despite missing the Texans' 34-7 loss to the Minnesota Vikings last week.
Mixon, who joined the Texans in the offseason after starring for the Cincinnati Bengals for seven seasons, sustained a sprained ankle against the Chicago Bears in Week 2.
Houston's inactive list also includes running back Dameon Pierce, who is battling a hamstring injury, wide receiver Tank Dell, safety Jimmie Ward, linebacker Jamal Hill and guard Nick Broeker. Pierce, Dell (chest) and Ward (groin) already were ruled out on the final injury report.
The inactive players for Jacksonville (0-3): safety Darnell Savage, tight end Evan Engram, linebacker Devin Lloyd, defensive end Myles Cole, defensive tackle Jordan Jefferson, and offensive linemen Javon Foster and Cole Van Lanen. Savage (quad) and Lloyd (knee) were questionable, while Engram (hamstring) already was ruled out.
