The Cardinals Lost Their 13th Game
Photo: [object Object] The Nationals completed a three-game sweep of the Cardinals with a 6-1 victory Sunday afternoon. Washington’s Max Scherzer threw seven scoreless innings with four hits and nine strikeouts.
Cardinals starter Carlos Martinez gave up four earned runs in 6 2/3 innings. The right-hander kept his team within one run into the seventh, before giving up back-to-back homers to Clint Robinson and Danny Espinosa. Martinez had surrendered two home runs total in his previous four starts.
The Cardinals were outscored 17-6 in the three-game weekend series. St. Louis has lost four in a row, and five of the last seven. Their record is 12-13.
