Redbirds hurler Carlos Martínez was unable to make it out of the fourth inning due to fatigue and took the loss, his second on the season. Tyler Lyons came on in relief for St. Louis, striking out seven but allowing two runs in his 3 2/3 innings of work.
Through 30 games, the Cardinals sit at .500 with a 15-15 record, good for third place in the N.L. Central. St. Louis was 22-8 at this point last season.
