The Cardinals Lost Their 27th Game
Photo credit: Scott Kane/ [object Object] Johnny Cueto picked up his ninth win on the season as the San Francisco Giants outpaced the St. Louis Cardinals last night, 5-1.
San Francisco held just a 2-1 lead until breaking things open in the ninth inning against Trevor Rosenthal after the Cardinals closer walked the bases loaded to open the inning—and surrendered all three baserunners as earned runs. Adam Wainwright fell to 5-4 on the season after allowing two earned runs in his seven innings of work.
The loss drops St. Louis to 28-27 on the season, good for third place in the N.L. Central.
