The Cardinals Lost Their 42nd Game
Photo: [object Object] The Milwaukee Brewers beat the St. Louis Cardinals in walkoff fashion Friday after shortstop Jonathan Villar’s single drove in Kirk Nieuwenhuis with two outs in the ninth.
The Brewers had a 3-2 lead until Yadier Molina tied the game with a home run in the eighth inning. Reliever Trevor Rosenthal started the bottom of the ninth for the Cardinals and immediately walked Nieuwenhuis; the Brewers outfielder reached second base on Hernan Pérez’s sacrifice. Seung-hwan Oh replaced Rosenthal, hit Ramon Flores, and gave up the game-winning hit.
