The Cardinals Lost Their 48th Game
Photo credit: Wilfredo Lee/ [object Object] Christian Yelich and Jeff Mathis combined for six hits and four RBI as the Marlins crushed St. Louis last night in Miami 11-0 in a battle between National League wild card contenders.
Jaime García failed to make it out of the fourth inning as the Marlins rocked him for six runs on seven hits. The Marlins bullpen combined to hold the shutout after starter Colin Rea left early due to injury; Kolten Wong’s 2-for-4 performance was the sole bright spot for St. Louis. The Cardinals fall to 56-48 on the season, good for second place in the N.L. Central.
There’s always the next game!
