The Cardinals Lost Their 53rd Game
Photo: Tom Gannam/ [object Object] The Atlanta Braves scored six runs in the first two innings Sunday as they defeated the St. Louis Cardinals, 6-3.
Cardinals starting pitcher Adam Wainwright was responsible for all six runs with nine hits and three walks. He hadn’t allowed that many runs in a start since June 27 against the Royals.
The Redbirds attempted to claw back in the eighth inning, but they didn’t get closer than a three-run deficit. Braves reliever Jim Johnson needed 10 pitches for his eighth save of the season.
The Cardinals are 58-53 and 26-32 at home. There’s always the next game!
