The Cardinals Lost Their 61st Game
Photo credit: Dilip Vishwanat/ [object Object] Jaime García gave up two two-out home runs and the Cardinals lost 7-4 to the A’s on Sunday to finish interleague play a dismal 8-12.
Khris Davis blasted a two-run homer in the first and Stephen Vogt hit a three-run homer in the third to give the A’s all the runs they would need. They tacked on two more in the eighth inning, but starter Andrew Triggs went six strong innings giving up just three runs while striking out eight, and three relievers combined to only surrender one additional run.
The Cardinals got the tying run to the plate in the ninth against closer Ryan Madsen, but he shut the door against Randall Grichuk and Greg Garcia for the save.
The Cardinals are 68-61 and 30-37 at home. There’s always the next game!
