The Cavs Just Cleared Some LeBron-Sized Cap Space
So it appears that the Cavs are really going for it. LeBron's old team just swung a three-team trade that will clear $9.5 million off the Cavaliers' books, leaving them with about $24 million in cap space, and that puts them them well in position to offer LeBron a max contract at $20.7 million.
The trade is between the Cavs, Celtics, and Nets, with the Cavs sending Jarrett Jack and his $6.3 million salary to the Nets and Tyler Zeller to the Celtics. The Nets will also get Sergey Karasev from the Cavs, and the Celtics will take Marcus Thornton from the Nets. Cleveland is also sending a future first-round pick to Boston.
But whatever, all that really matters here is the cap space. The Cavs seem to think they have a real shot at this:
If the Cavs can't convince LeBron to come back, though, be ready for all of Cleveland to burn, because they appear to have one sad-ass Plan B in mind:
